New Look For the No. 18 Truck:
Robert Pressley and the No. 18 Dickies
Square D Bobby Hamilton Racing Dodge Team enter this week's race at
California Speedway with a whole new look.
The once black and red Dodge is gone, and the new 2003 version is upon us.
The new navy blue, light blue, and red Dodge will support a gold zipper and
a radical new look. For the next two races, Square D will remain on the
hood with Dickies on the sides and back of the truck. In Homestead, the No.
18 truck will be entirely Dickies sponsored from the hood to the tail.
"It will be different," said Pressley. "I know there is nothing like it on
the track. Maybe this will even help turn our luck around at the end of the
season."
Pressley continues to hold on to a slim hope in the race for the 2002
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series points championship, trailing leader, Mike
Bliss, by 268 points with just three races remaining. But a win or two
before the end of the season may be just what the team needs heading into
the off-season.
"It's been a good year, but not a great year," said Pressley. "We had very
high hopes coming into this season, and with the way Daytona and then
Darlington turned out, we thought we would have been in the points race all
year. But things have just not worked out for us."
Past History: In the past, the
California Speedway has been very good to the No. 18 team despite the 16th
place finish last season by Joe Ruttman. In 2000, Ruttman finished in the
third position. In 1999 he and the team finished in the second position at
the speedway.
Earnings: Pressley needs to earn only
$26,035 to surpass the $ 400,000 mark in career NASCAR Craftsman Truck
Series earnings. Pressley will also be making his 20th career start in the
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series this weekend at California Speedway.
Championship Hunt: With three races
remaining in the 2002 season, there are still 10 teams that can win the
Truck Series Championship.
This Week's Truck: Pressley will be
racing "Angel" at California Speedway this week. Angel won at Michigan
earlier this season with Pressley behind the wheel. In 2001, Angel won at
Pikes Peak International Raceway with Joe Ruttman behind the wheel. The
truck also had 11 other starts in 2001, which resulted in three top five
finishes and eight top ten finishes.
