Topics of Interest
Looking for Consistency:
The No. 18 Bobby Hamilton Racing Robert Pressley team has been one of the
teams to beat all year, but for some reason, the team finds themselves
searching for consistency. They started the year off by winning the Daytona
event, then finished second at Darlington. Then they had a horrifying month
of May, finishing 14th, 31st and 30th. Things turned around at Dover with a
second place finish and then a strong sixth place showing at Texas. But
once again, the team struggled and finished 12th at Memphis.
"We have just not got in our grove so to speak," said Pressley. "We have
had a hard time maintaining any momentum. We know we can win any week, but
we just have had some bad luck."
The team enters this week's race in eighth position in the NASCAR Craftsman
Truck Series points standings, just 148 points behind the leader, with 14
races left in the season.
No. 18 Past History:
The No. 18 Team has competed in three events at The
Milwaukee Mile, with a best finish of sixth place last year. In 2000, the
team recorded a 24th place finish after an engine problem, and in 1999, the
team finished in the 15th position. Joe Ruttman ran all three of the races
for the team. The team has, however, never started worse than sixth place
for the event. (starting positions 1999-6th, 2000-5th, and 2001-2nd)
Owner/Crew Chief in Milwaukee:
Bobby Hamilton will take over as crew chief of
the No. 18 Bobby Hamilton Racing Dodge team for the Milwaukee Mile event.
This will be the second time Hamilton has served as crew chief in
Milwaukee.
Last Year, he oversaw the No. 8 effort for his driver at the time, Willy T.
Ribbs. At that event, Ribbs finished in the 18th position.
"I have the week off and I feel like I can help Robert (Pressley) run good
at the race, so why not give it a try," said Hamilton. "We're still looking
for a full-time crew chief for the No. 18 truck, but as I said before,
we're in no hurry to make a decision. Todd (Myers) had done us a great job
the last two weeks and he will probably be back with us in the coming races
as his schedule and ours permits. The big thing is to take the time that we
need to find a person that will fit in with us."
This Week's Truck:
Pressley will be racing the
same truck that he ran at Memphis Motorsports Park last week. It is the
same truck that Joe Ruttman raced to a sixth place finish at Milwaukee last
year.

Pressley Quotes
"I'm pretty excited about Bobby (Hamilton) being at the track this week
making the calls. We went testing at Nashville Fairgrounds last week, and
it just seemed like we didn't even have to talk. He knows what I need
because he knows what I want by being a driver himself. I think it will be
a lot of
fun and heck, maybe we can get him to do it again this year, if we get a
good
finish."
"This Truck Series is way more competitive that a lot of people think.
There are some really aggressive guys over here, and they don't care what
anybody thinks about them. I think we've had a different winner about every
week. I know the fans have to be loving this races."
