December 10, 2002 Bobby Hamilton Racing Completes Driver Line Up for 2002 Robert Pressley Signs to Drive the No. 18 Dodge Ram Mount Juliet, Tennessee (December 10, 2001)- Veteran NASCAR Winston Cup Series and NASCAR Busch Grand National competitor, Robert Pressley, will pilot the No. 18 Bobby Hamilton Racing Dodge in the 2002 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Pressley joins last year’s third place finishing team in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series points standings, after spending the last four years with Jasper Motorsports in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. For the second consecutive year, Pressley finished in the top 25 in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series points standings. He also recorded a second place finish at Chicagoland Speedway along with four other top ten finishes during the year. “This is a great move for me,“ said Pressley. “This team has won races over the last few years, and I can’t wait to get back to winning form with this group of guys that Bobby (Hamilton) has put together. They build some really good trucks, and everyone on the team is dedicated to winning a championship. Bobby and I have been talking for a few months about doing this deal, and after I tested one of their trucks at Atlanta (Motor Speedway) a few weeks ago, I knew this could be my new home. I’m just really excited, and I can’t wait to get to Daytona for the first race.” The No. 18 Bobby Hamilton Racing Team recorded 20 top ten finishes in 24 events last season, enroute to finishing the most laps and the most miles during the year. “Robert (Pressley) is just what we need to get to the top of the Series,” said Bobby Hamilton, the owner of Bobby Hamilton Racing. “He’s smooth on the truck, easy on tires, and very hungry to get back to victory lane. I think he is what this race team is looking for in a driver, and I think this is just the situation that could help him showcase his talents.” Pressley’s career includes 204 NASCAR Winston Cup Series starts and 205 NASCAR Busch Grand National Series starts. During his tenure in the NASCAR Busch Grand National Series, he earned six poles and 10 victories. “The bottom line is Robert is a winner,” said Hamilton. “He just has not had the right opportunity to win in the last few years, but I think we’ll be in the hunt for many victories this coming year.” Pressley will team up with outstanding young crew chief, Danny Gill, this coming year. He will also have two teammates at Bobby Hamilton Racing. Brian Rose, will drive the No. 4 SunClear energy Dodge, and Bill Lester will driver the No. 8 Dodge Motorsports Dodge. Currently, Bobby Hamilton Racing is in negotiations with several potential sponsors for the No. 18 Team, and hopefully a contract will be signed in the next few weeks. #### |
