Topics of Interest

Finishing Strong: Bill Lester and the No. 8 Team are looking at the final four races as a good time to get geared up for next year, with some solid finishes heading into the off-season.

"We've had a good season, but just not a great season," said Lester. "The big thing for us now is to finish up the year strong and have a great off-season, and come out next year and show everyone what we learned from this season."

Career starts/BHR starts: Bill Lester will be making his 24th start for Bobby Hamilton Racing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. It will move him into a tie for second place with owner, Bobby Hamilton, in all-time starts for the organization. Joe Ruttman leads all BHR drivers with 65 starts since 1999.

Petty Driving School: Lester attended the Petty Driving School at Las Vegas Motor Speedway during the break in races over the last two weeks. Lester has also giving rides at the Petty Driving School at several other speedways that he has never raced on before this season.

"This was not my first time at the driving school, but it was my first time at Las Vegas Motor Speedway," said Lester. "One of the team's spotters, Joe Hudson, is an instructor at the driving school, and he was able to help me out earlier this year with some of the tracks. It's been a big help having some kind of idea of what to expect when I get to the race track."

Pit Crew Challenge: On Friday, October 11, 2002, the finals of the "Dodge Pit Crew Challenge" will take place at the Suncoast Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. During the course of the year, all three Bobby Hamilton Racing teams won their first rounds to qualify for the finals in Las Vegas. They will face the No. 2 Team for the crown.

Past History: Willy T. Ribbs started in the 21st position and finished in the 26th position in the No. 8 team's only event at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Championship Hunt: With four races remaining in the 2002 season, there are still 12 teams that can win the Truck Series Championship.

DaimlerChrysler Diversity Week: On Wednesday, October 16, 2002, Lester will be attending the Diversity Week celebration at DaimlerChrysler World Headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Lester will speak to the attendees about diversity in Motorsports and how the environment has changed due to Dodge Motorsports's diversity program.

This Week's Truck: Lester will be driving his favorite truck, "Trix," at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. It is the same truck that he piloted to his career best starts at Kansas and Kentucky, and a career best finish at Texas, earlier this season.

"The last time we raced Trix, we had a problem with the fuel pickup, but I think we've got that fixed and we'll have a great truck this week," said Lester.
