Topics of Interest

Track Owes Me One: In 1989, Bobby Hamilton went to victory lane in Richmond while driving a NASCAR Busch Series car, but in a truck, it has been one let down after another, but this could be the year.

"I think I've had just about everything I can think of happen to me in the few truck races I have raced here," said Hamilton. "We've been in a crash, we had a rear end gear break, oh and we've had a cut tire that all cost me a shot at really good finishes. So hopefully we have gotten all the bad luck behind us, and we can get a solid finish out of this race. The shame of it is I really love racing this place. It's one of the tracks that I look forward to coming to. And it doesn't hurt that I have won a race here."

The No. 4 Team will be looking for a solid finish just because they are in a fight to finish in the top 15 in owners points for the year. They are currently in the 16th place in the owners points standings, just 11 points behind the No. 08 truck of Bobby Dotter.

Sponsors: The sponsor on the No. 4 truck at Richmond will be Square D. They will be on the truck for the final race at Homestead in November.

Career starts/BHR starts: Hamilton will be making his second start of the season and his 24th start of his NASCAR Truck Series career. It will also be his 24th start in a Bobby Hamilton Racing truck, which will move him to second in all-time starts for the organization that he has owned since 1996.

Championship Hunt: With seven races remaining in the 2002 season, there are still 22 teams that can win the Truck Series Championship.

Past History: Hamilton has two top ten finishes at Richmond International Raceway over the last four years, but a seventh place finish is the best he has ever finished in a truck at the facility. In 1998, Hamilton recorded a 34th place finish after falling out of the event. In 1999, he finished 31st after winning the pole, but the last two years at the track, Hamilton has recorded a tenth place and a seventh place finish respectfully.

This Week's Truck: Hamilton will be racing "Hank", the same truck that Bobby Hamilton Jr. drove at Nashville Super Speedway. Hank has never started or finished outside the top ten since it was built over the winter. It has an amazing 5.5 average finish and a 7.5 average start.
