David
Pepper graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1995 with a Bachelor
of Science degree in Advertising, along with minors in Marketing, Computer
Information Systems, and Economics. Pepper has spent the last eight years
involved in motorsports, working primarily in both the NASCAR Busch Series
and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. During this time, he has also
worked with several part-time teams in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series and
the Auto Racing Club of America (ARCA).
During his career in
racing, Pepper has moved from working freelance on the weekends, to show
truck driver, to currently overseeing the marketing aspects of Bobby
Hamilton Racing (BHR) and the Public Relations for the No. 8 and No. 18
teams. He has performed just about every job in motorsports, all the while
developing a pedigree of racing knowledge. The culmination of several
years of hard work and dedication has earned Pepper the title of Director
of Marketing for BHR and its three-team operation in the NASCAR Craftsman
Truck Series.
Pepper joined BHR in December of 1998 as the public relations
representative, while also performing during the races as a pit crew
member. Three years ago, he left the over-the-wall gang to focus primarily
on growing BHR’s marketing plan for the future. Pepper is one of only two
members of the BHR staff (50 plus teammembers) that has never missed a
race that BHR has competed in since its inception in 1998 (103 events from
1998 to 2003).
Prior to December 1998, Pepper worked for Brewco Motorsports as the public
relations representative for their NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team in
1998 and their NASCAR Busch Series Team in 1997. Before joining Brewco
Motorsports for the start of the 1997 season, he spent the previous two
years working freelance for several different teams in NASCAR and other
racing sanctioning bodies.
“I have to say that I’m living my dream,” said Pepper. “There are a lot of
people that can only dream of getting up every day and going to a hobby
that is their career. I count myself as one of the luckiest people in the
world because that’s exactly what I get to do.”
