Montgomery Slowed by Handling Issues in Finale
A long and adventurous year in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series came to an end on Friday for Chase Montgomery and his BHR2 team. In the 25th and final race of the season, Montgomery battled handling problems on his #8 DODGE and come home with a 21st place finish in the running of the Ford 200 at the Homestead Miami Speedway.

Chase is coming off a disappointing finish of 29th in his career debut at the challenging Darlington Raceway last week.  He is looking to rebound and finish the season on a high note this week in Homestead. “I am looking forward to getting to Homestead and finishing the season off strong.  My guys right now are on top of their game and giving me some great trucks every week.  We tested at Homestead a few months back for a DODGE manufacturers test and we were very good.

No Lady Luck for Montgomery
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series rookie Chase Montgomery welcomed the opportunity to race at the historic Darlington Raceway – the track that he had watched so many times on TV as a youngster.  Finally on Saturday night, the 21-year-old was given his opportunity and an eventful evening involving a freak tire failure evolved into a disappointing 29th place finish at the 1.33-mile oval in the running of the Darlington 200.

Chase is coming off his worst career finish last week in Phoenix where a blown right front tire ended his day early and relegated him to a 36th place finish. “I am really excited about finally getting the opportunity to race at Darlington.  The track has so much history and I remember the days of growing up and watching the great drivers of the past race at Darlington on TV."

Montgomery Smacked in Phoenix
Chase Montgomery rolled into Phoenix with very high expectations and this only grew after his qualifying effort on Thursday was good for the 12th starting spot in the running of the Silverado 150.  All of those expectations were blown away, along with the right front tire of his #8 DODGE, and the result was a heavily damaged truck and a season worst 36th place finish at the Phoenix International Raceway.

Chase is coming off a 19th place finish at Martinsville where a very strong run was derailed by a flat tire.  The rookie and his BHR2 team look for a career run this week in Phoenix. “I raced at Phoenix last year in the Busch race and it is a really fun track to race on.  It is a tricky track and it took me some time to figure the place out but towards the end of the race last year I was very comfortable getting around there."

Cut Tire Hampers Strong Run for Montgomery
Back in the spring, Chase Montgomery left the Martinsville Speedway after his career debut at the track and stated that “he could not wait to come back and race at the track in the fall”.  Despite bad luck this time around, the rookie driver echoed the same thought as he left the .526 speedway on Saturday afternoon.  A cut tire early in the running of the Kroger 200 cut short a strong run for Montgomery and relegated him and his #8 Alpine Engineered Products DODGE to a 19th place finish.

Chase is coming off another solid run at Texas last week where he came home with a 17th place finish for the second time this year at the 1.5 mile speed plant of the Texas Motor Speedway. “What a change of pace to come off one of the fastest tracks on the circuit and go to probably our slowest here at Martinsville. This will be my second visit to the paper-clip shaped track but it already ranks high on my list of favorites. "

Montgomery Repeats Performance in Texas
One of the fastest tracks on the circuit for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series provided for a rather bizarre running of the Chevrolet Silverado 350K on Saturday afternoon. The end result for 21-year-old Chase Montgomery was a 17th place finish in the caution filled event at the 1.5-mile layout of the Texas Motor Speedway.

Chase is coming off a much needed strong performance last time out as he finished 16th at the California Speedway.  Texas is one of this rookie’s favorite tracks and he looks to make a charge to the front once again. “This one has been marked on my calendar since the first race back in June."

Chase is coming off a discouraging 27th place finish last week in Las Vegas. He is looking to rebound with a solid outing this week at the California Speedway. “This has been a heck of a week and we need to end it with a good race in California. The track is very much like Michigan and we had a good set up and strong truck there earlier this year. There is a lot of room for racing which give us several different racing grooves.

No Lady Luck for Montgomery
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series rookie Chase Montgomery was looking for some Las Vegas luck on Saturday, but like most visitors to the “city that never sleeps” he did not find that luck. The New England area was inundated with heavy rain from remnants of Hurricane Ivan on Saturday – and in turn the patience of NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Chase Montgomery and his BHR2 team were put to the test. The 20-year old rookie and his team responded with a solid performance and a 17th place finish in the running of the Sylvania 200 presented by Lowe’s at the New Hampshire International Speedway.

Montgomery Baffled in Richmond
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Chase Montgomery has undoubtedly had an eventful 2004 rookie season, but nothing like his bizarre night on Thursday in Richmond.  Montgomery battled numerous tire problems as he steered his #8 Herbalife DODGE to a 27th place finish in the running of the Kroger 200 under the lights at the Richmond International Raceway.

Ray Montgomery Supports Both Competing Children from Canada
Why would Ray Montgomery, co-owner of the No. 8 BHR2 team in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, elect to be in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada and miss one of the most exciting events of the season at Bristol?  Not only did Ray miss watching his son Chase compete for the first time this season, he was also in a part of the world where you can go 100 miles in any direction and see where all the wheat in the world must be grown – or so it seems.  The closest race track for him on this day was Regina’s ¼ mile track - which just also happens to be surrounded by wheat.

Montgomery Green with Envy at Bristol
In the world of motorsports there are many superstitions about what brings you bad luck – and one of them is having a green race car or truck.  However, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series rookie Chase Montgomery enjoyed having his truck decorated in green as he piloted his #8 Herbalife DODGE to a 20th place finish on Wednesday night in the running of the O’Reilly 200 at the Bristol Motor Speedway.

“Handling Woes Surface For Rookie” - Chase Montgomery enjoyed his week at home and racing in front of family and friends. But the result at the end of the day was not what the 20-year-old rookie was hoping for. While battling the handling of his #8 DODGE, Montgomery soldiered home with a 23rd place finish in the running of the Toyota Tundra 200 at the Nashville Superspeedway.

Chase Montgomery Ready to Bounce Back at Nashville
“The guys have been giving me some very strong trucks and the one this week will be no different.  We learned some things a few weeks ago at a Kentucky test session and it really seemed to help us at Michigan and I am sure it will come into play here this week.  We had a rare mechanical issue that hurt us last week and each time that has happened this season, this team bounces back in a big way – I am sure we will once again.”

Chase Montgomery Post Race Report: IRP
The issue of parts failures is an unfortunate part of the racing equation.  Chase Montgomery and his #8 DODGE suffered one of those untimely failures on Friday night with a punctured power steering line.  The result was a disappointing 32nd place finish in the running of the Power Stroke 200 at the Indianapolis Raceway Park.

Chase Montgomery, No. 8 BHR2 Dodge IRP Preview
“This will be my first time racing at IRP.  I have gone the last few years to watch the races and the track looks like it is a lot of fun.  I have had some pretty good runs at similar tracks to IRP and I expect the same on Friday night.  It is always a big show here for the whole week in Indy and you sure do want to make a good showing. The race always has some great racing and is a fan favorite on our schedule.  The guys on this team have been giving me great trucks all year and if we get the chassis under us and stay out of trouble then we will have a really good run.”

The maturation process of a rookie race car driver and his team can be a long and arduous process.  NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series rookie Chase Montgomery and his BHR2 team can see their progress as they can gain on the growth process.  In another sign of this, Chase steered his #8 DODGE to a 15th place finish in the Line-X Spray-On Bedliners 200 at the Michigan International Speedway.

Chase Montgomery No. 8 Dodge BHR2 Preview: Michigan
“Like most drivers, I really like the track at Michigan. It is a fast and wide race track that allows for multiple racing grooves. There is a lot of drafting at the track and it starts to remind you a little of Daytona – which is my favorite place to run so Michigan ranks up there as well. We did some testing last week at Kentucky and I think we found some things that are going to really help us here in the second half of the season at places such as Michigan. Everyone seems to be revived a little with the week off and we are looking forward to a strong run this weekend in the Irish Hills.”

Montgomery Battles For 12th at Gateway

“This is another one of those tracks that I have never seen before.  I have heard that it is somewhat like Milwaukee and at the end of that race I was getting around there very well.  We are taking the same truck that we ran at that race in Milwaukee and I am confident in my crew to get the set-up under me and I believe that I will get the hang of the track fairly quickly. I seem to be growing fond of these flat tracks much like Milwaukee and Memphis, so I look for another strong run this week at Gateway.”

Chase is coming off a very promising run last week at Dover.  Despite a disappointing 29th place finish, the 20-year-old rookie was one of the fastest trucks during the first part of the race.  However, he was caught up in another competitor blowing an engine and putting fluid down on the track – sending his #8 DODGE machine hard into the Turn 1 wall and for all purposes ending his day.

Chase Montgomery Dover Post Race Report
Chase Montgomery feels like he has had a “black cloud” following him so far this year in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Despite further bad luck on Friday in Dover, the 20-year-old rookie feels that he may just have found a clearing in that cloud. Montgomery had a solid run denied at the Dover International Speedway during the running of the MBNA America 200. A mid-race encounter with oil from a competitor’s blown engine resulted in a deceiving 28th place finish for Chase and his #8 Big Daddy’s Cycle World DODGE.

Plus, Martinsville is such a popular track within NASCAR and that makes it very exciting for me to finally run here this weekend.”
