News and Notes:
The North Carolina native will be making his sixth NASCAR start at Talladega. He has one Sprint Cup, two Nationwide and two previous NCTS starts at the 2.66-mile oval. He has scored one top-five and one top-10 finish in those trucks starts.
Setzer has scored six consecutive top-10 starting spots in the last six events.
Despite below standard sixteenth place finishes the past two races, Setzer continues to gain ground in the NCTS point standings. He currently sits ninth just 61 points out of eighth spot.
Setzer will pilot "CHAMP" on Saturday afternoon. This particular chassis made its debut at Daytona earlier this season. It was the final chassis built in BHR’s Nashville race shop and was named after the late Bobby Hamilton Sr. Setzer drove it to a 10th place finish during the first race of this season.
The No. 18 Dodge will be showcasing the BESSEMERCJD.com paint scheme during the Mountain Dew 250. The Bessemer Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealership was the outstanding sales performer selling more Dodge vehicles than all the surrounding dealerships, thus winning the prize to sponsor Setzer's No. 18 Dodge Ram at Talladega.
Cautiously Aggressive: "Since they repaved the race track at Talladega it is so smooth and has so much grip that the truck just rides around without much change. You just hold it wide open like you are on a weekend drive. It makes it to where you have to focus on horsepower and not the handling of the truck like we normally do. Arrington Engines has been hard at work preparing for this weekend’s events. We have a tremendous relationship with our engine provider, so there is always a lot of faith in our superspeedway program. I have to make the best plan to divide and conquer the competitors in front of me. It seems everyone is always asking what my game plan is heading into this race. To be honest you really have to be cautiously aggressive. It may seem odd to put those two words together, but it is really what it’s like racing there. I think it’s a good idea to assess the race situation in the very beginning and let the others sort things out, but with about a one-third of the race left you have to put yourself in position to start moving forward. If you have a fast truck, then others will draft with you but only as it benefits them. One minute you are drafting and the next you are hung out. That’s just how this race goes. So to position yourself in the right place at the right time is key to Talladega."
