News and Notes:
The North Carolina native will be making his 12th NASCAR start at Gateway International Raceway. He has one previous Nationwide and 10 NASCAR Craftsman Truck series starts at the 1.25 mile oval. He has three top-five and six top-10 finishes in those 10 NCTS starts.
Setzer will pilot "Viper" on Saturday. This particular chassis raced at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, where Setzer scored a seventh-place finish. It also raced at Dover earlier in the summer and the last race in Bristol. It is the newest chassis in the No. 18 Dodge stable.
The No. 18 Dodge will be showcasing the Royal Gate Dodge paint scheme Saturday afternoon. The Royal Gate Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealership was the outstanding sales performer selling more Dodge vehicles than all the surrounding dealerships, thus winning the prize to sponsor Setzer's No. 18 Dodge Ram at Gateway.
BHR to One Truck for Now: Over the recent break in the truck series schedule the management at Bobby Hamilton Racing decided it was best to shift its focus to the No. 18 effort and have ceased operations on the No. 4 entry until further notice. "It was a very tough business decision that was thought long and hard about amongst the owners," said Lori Hamilton, Chief Operating Officer of BHR. "This allows us to pull from our many resources and direct all our focus to the No. 18 team. Our goal is to win more races thus giving us more exposure and finish this season in the top 10 in points."
Setzer on a Gateway To Remember: "I’ve competed in a handful of races at Gateway, but the one I can’t seem to forget is the truck race in 2004. NASCAR had just announced they would implement the one shot green-white-checkered flag finish in all events after the St. Louis race. Bobby Hamilton Sr. was leading with several laps to go when Shane Hmiel ran into the side of him sending him down the back straightaway on his side. Sparks were flying everywhere. I kept thinking this can’t be happening. Then we restarted and the leader got knocked out of the way by the second place finisher. It was like there was a full moon out because the oddest things continued to happen. The race was scheduled to be 160 laps and we ran 14 more before we finally crossed the finish line with no incidents. I just laid back and watched it all unfold in front of me. I was able to miss all the wrecks and finished second. I totally understand why NASCAR changed the rule."
