Gladeville, TN. (August 11, 2008) – An extremely tight Tahoe Dodge deflected Dennis Setzer and the Tahoe Racing team to a 18th place finish in the Toyota Tundra 200 at Nashville Superspeedway. After posting the fastest speed in the first practice and qualifying eighth, the Tahoe Dodge looked to be top contender in the 15th race of the season. Once the green flag dropped Setzer was able to hang in the top 10 for the first 37 laps before the tight condition escaladed. The Tahoe Racing Team made three pit stops and a variety of changes to help the situation but to no avail the condition did not improve and Setzer came home in 18th position.
The No. 18 Dodge Ram Race Recap
· Setzer posted the fastest time in the first practice and seventh fastest time in the second practice on Friday evening. After going out first in qualifying on Saturday afternoon Setzer held the top spot for a short time before settling for the eighth starting position.
· Once the green flag dropped Setzer radioed in, "It is really tight in the center," he said while running seventh. The first caution waved on lap five for an accident on the front stretch. "It’s too early to pit, let’s stay out and we will get it loosened up on the first stop," said Crew Chief Marcus Richmond.
· On lap 20 Setzer was still struggling with the tight condition while running ninth. Richmond told Setzer to turn the left side bead blower to help with the tight condition.
· The second caution of the night waved on lap 37 for debris. Setzer hit pit road for service. The Tahoe Racing Team jumped into action changed all four tires, added fuel and made a track bar adjustment before they sent Setzer on his way. He restarted 19th.
· A multi-truck wreck transpired on lap 43 just in front of the No. 18 Tahoe Dodge. Setzer displayed his veteran driving skills when he slowed down and chose the right lane to make it through the bellowing smoke. "I think I might have flat spotted the tires a bit," radioed Setzer to Richmond. The tires proved to be okay. Setzer restarted 16th.
· By lap 60 Setzer had fallen to the 19th spot. "It is way too tight," he said just before the fourth caution came out on lap 65 for a spin on the front stretch.
· Setzer hit pit road once again for four fresh Goodyear tires, two cans of Sunoco Fuel and another round of adjustments. He restarted 19th.
· Just after the restart an accident in turn two brought out another caution. Richmond made the decision to stay out and gain track position. Setzer restarted fourth.
· "It is a little better now," said Setzer on lap 82 while running fifth. Just 20 laps later the tight condition returned and the No. 18 Tahoe Dodge dropped to 11th spot.
· Debris brought out the sixth of seven cautions on lap 115 giving the Tahoe Racing Team a chance to work on the tight Dodge Ram. They jumped into action changed all four tires, added fuel and made a major track bar adjustment to help the persistent tight condition. He restarted 17th.
· As the final laps wound down the tight condition proved to be a struggle for the No. 18 Tahoe Dodge and Setzer came home 18th.
