News and Notes:
v The Virginia native will be making his 11th NASCAR start at the Nashville Superspeedway this weekend. He has 10 previous Nationwide starts at the Music City track, but this will be his first NCTS start. He has scored three top-10 finishes in those 10 Nationwide starts.
v Before the truck series made the jump across town to the superspeedway Compton did compete in three NCTS events at the Music City Motorplex. He scored one top-five and two top-10 finishes in those three starts at the short track.
v The No. 4 Dodge will be showcasing the BobFrensley.COM paint scheme Saturday afternoon. The Bob Frensley Dodge dealership was the outstanding sales performer selling more Dodge vehicles than all the surrounding dealerships, thus winning the prize to sponsor Compton's No. 4 Dodge Ram this weekend.
v Compton will pilot "Swinger" this weekend at Nashville. He had driven this particular chassis at Lowe’s, Texas, Michigan and Kentucky earlier this season.
BHR Flash Back: In only his second truck race at Nashville Superspeedway the late Bobby Hamilton Sr. won the 2004 event with no radio communication to his crew chief. He won his personal favorite trophy the famed Gibson guitar trophy. Before moving to Martinsville, VA earlier this season BHR called the Nashville area home for 10 years.
Concrete Keeps Nashville Consistent: "I have not met too many drivers in my time who don’t love the Nashville Superspeedway. It is a race car driver’s dream track due to the surface. An asphalt track is very temperature sensitive and conditions can change several times throughout the race. A concrete track is the total opposite. No matter what the temperature is it never wavers. When you set up the truck the night before during practice you can be pretty confident it will be almost the same when you climb in the truck for qualifying the next afternoon."
Compton Picky about His Superstitions: "I am not superstitious about some things, but I will never pick up a penny on tails. It has been the only one I have ever really believed I guess. I won a championship in the number 13 so numbers and colors don’t bother me at all. However, the moment I see a penny on tails I take off in the other direction."
