News and Notes:

• The Virginia native will be making his 12th NASCAR start at Michigan International Speedway this weekend. He has four Nextel Cup, five Nationwide and two Craftsman Truck Series starts to his name.  He has scored one pole and one top-10 finish in those two truck starts.
• The No. 4 Dodge will be sporting the Suburban Dodge paint scheme this weekend. The Suburban Dodge dealership was the outstanding sales performer selling more Dodge vehicles than all the surrounding dealerships thus winning the prize to sponsor Compton's No. 4 Dodge Ram this weekend.
• Compton will pilot “Swinger” this weekend at MIS. He drove this particular chassis last week at Texas Motor Speedway. Compton qualified 18th and was running 12th before an engine part failure resulted in a 30th place finish. He also drove this chassis as Lowe’s Motor Speedway last month.
•  In 1999 Compton scored a pole starting position at MIS. This same season he scored six pole starting spots in the Craftsman Truck Series. 

The Purple Necklace:  “Last week as I was rushing out the door for the airport to head to Texas my daughter, Olivia, handed me a purple beaded necklace. She has a box full of dress up clothes and play jewelry. I instantly recognized it as one of her favorites to wear when she plays. She told me to take it with me to Texas and to wear it while I was at the track so I could think of her. Instead of coming to the race last weekend with me, the girls went and spent some time with their Nana. Olivia was concerned I would forget about her while they were gone. I talked to her every day while in Texas and she asked me each time if I was wearing the necklace. She is the poster child for a Daddy’s Girl. No matter how manly you think you are you cannot say no to your little girl. So, if you see a picture of me before the race at Texas I am wearing a new purple necklace. I think it went great with my red Dodge uniform.”

Compton: Newest Member of Wrestling Mania: “A lot of people have no idea that I was a wrestler in high school. I started racing go-karts when I was six and that was pretty much all I did. I decided in high school I was going to try another sport. I competed on the high school wrestling team for one year. I was actually pretty good at it. Eventually, it took away to much time from my racing and I gave it up.”
