The North Carolina native will make his 21st NASCAR start at Texas Motor Speedway (TMS). He has 19 previous Craftsman Truck Series and one Nationwide Series starts on the 1.5 mile oval. He scored two wins (1999 and 2004), six top-five and 12 top-10 finishes in the truck series at TMS.

Setzer will pilot “Nitro” this weekend at Texas.  He drove this particular chassis at Kansas Motor Speedway in April and scored a 25th place finish.

Last week at Dover International Speedway Setzer made his 250th start in the NCTS. He made his first series start in 1995 and has scored 18 wins since then.

Reaching Milestones:  “The Craftsman Truck Series has been really good to me over the years.  I have really found a home to race each weekend in the series.  I’ve been around long enough to see all the changes.  When it first started, we had a lot of teams racing out of their backyards going to the track and actually winning races.  You just can’t do that anymore.  Every series, even late models, have engineering support now.  When you step back and think about how much it all has evolved it is fascinating.  I’m thankful to have been associated with successful teams and been fortunate to work with some really great people in this sport during my career.  Of course you wish that you had a big opportunity land in your lap right off the bat, but when we all started it didn’t work that way.  We were coached to make laps, and to finish first you must first finish.  Then once we got that concept, it was building on what we learned during a race.  There is so much pressure on these newcomers these days to go out in a vehicle and win right off the bat.  That is a lot on someone, especially at these young ages these kids are starting at now.  Everyone is looking for that young new talent out there, and the older generation is still out there wishing it was them.”
