Stacy Compton
No. 4 Spitzer Dodge
The Ohio 250 at Mansfield Motorsports Park
Mansfield, OH. (May 26, 2008) –Dodge Driver Stacy Compton finally got the monkey of his back this weekend at the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Ohio 250 by scoring a 10th place finish. Before arriving in Mansfield on Friday morning Compton had never seen the race track, but proved his short track background came in handy during the course of the event after starting in the 25th spot. Compton struggled in the opening laps with the No. 4 Spitzer Dodge. “It will not turn,” he said to Crew Chief Bryant Frazier on lap 37 while running in the 26th position. Frazier made a gutsy call later in the race to bring Compton back down pit road for four fresh tires despite his pre-race plan to only pit once. The fresh tires proved to be just what Compton needed to make his way through the field and into 10th place. It was the team’s second top-10 finish.
