| Setzer Says Martinsville Can't Be Mastered and Keeps Drivers on Their Toes 03-24-2008 | Martinsville, VA
No. 18 Dodge Ram Fast Facts
News and Notes: ƒæ The short track king will make his 21st NASCAR start this weekend at Martinsville. In 16 previous NCTS starts Setzer has scored two wins, six top-five finishes and nine top-10 finishes. In one Nationwide Series start he has one top-10 finish. He also has one Sprint Cup Series start to his credit at Martinsville. Three Races Down and Top 10 in Points: ¡§Anytime you can come out of the third race of the season and still be in the top 10 in points is a good thing. It is a great way to start the season. So many times you hope for a good start to the season and bad luck comes your way and ends that. I am excited about being ninth in points, but I am more excited about making the drive to get inside the top five over the coming weeks. I know the average person cannot see how much our team as grown since Daytona, but we have come a long way in a short time. The guys have put in a lot of long hours to make our trucks run more competitively and I think that is just beginning to show. Our team is only going to get better as the races go on. Thanks to Dodge we are spending a substantial amount of time in the wind tunnel and at the eight post shaker rig. The Martinsville test went really well, but we still spent time in the tunnel and at the eight post after the test to make ourselves better. On top of that we tested at the Motor Mile to get some more track time before this weekend. If we can stay out of trouble at Martinsville I think we will be on our way to a solid spot in the top 10 in points.¡¨ Setzer¡¦s Off-Weekend Hideaway: ¡§Most of the time on an off weekend I spend time with my son and I usually let him pick what we do. Sometimes we tinker on his late model or we play basketball. However, I really love to go fishing on my off weekends when time allows. I take my pontoon boat to the lake in the eastern part of North Carolina. It is a very deserted area. I mean you can go 20 miles on this lake before you see any form of civilization. I take several friends with me and we just fish for hours. It is the one place I can get away from everything and just have a relaxing time. In this sport I think it is good to get away and be in a different environment. That is one reason why I love truck racing because the schedule gives us a chance to do that.¡¨
