Hampton, GA. (March 10, 200) – For Dennis Setzer and his Dodge Racing Team the American Commercial Lines 200 at Atlanta Motor Speedway was all about determination. After struggling in the morning practice, Setzer and Crew Chief Marcus Richmond made several changes before qualifying Friday afternoon. The changes proved to be a success when Setzer scored an eighth place starting position. Once the race started he overcame an extremely loose truck in the earlier stages of the event, a pit road penalty late in the race but went on to lead one lap and score a 13th place finish. The top-15 finish moved Setzer to eighth in the NASCAR Driver Point Standings.

The No. 18 Melling Dodge Atlanta Race Recap

• After posting the eighth fastest lap in qualifying Friday afternoon Setzer scored his best starting position of the season.
• Immediately following the drop of the green flag Setzer radioed into Richmond. “It is bad loose,” said Setzer while running in the 14th position. “It is very loose on entrance and well into the corner.” Richmond encouraged Setzer to hang on and told him they would fix the loose condition on the next pit stop.
• Thankfully, for the Dodge Racing Team the first caution waved on lap 20 for an accident on the frontstretch. Setzer hit pit road for service. The BHRVA Racing Team jumped into action changing all four tires, adding fuel, and making a wedge, track bar and spring rubber adjustment to help fix the loose condition. He restarted in the 22nd position.
• By lap 40 the many adjustments proved to be working for Setzer. “It is a lot better,” said Setzer while running 19th. “But the tires seem to go away pretty quickly after a few laps.”
• The second caution waved a few laps later for a spin on the frontstretch. Once again Setzer hit pit road for service. After changing all four tires and adding fuel the Melling Racing Team sent Setzer back out in 23rd spot.
• Over the next 30 laps the track stayed under green-flag conditions and Setzer gained substantial ground on the competitors in front of him. By lap 81 he was running 13th.
• The green-flag condition forced Setzer and field to make the only green flag pit stops of the night. Richmond pushed the envelope to keep Setzer out on the track to lead one lap and get five extra bonus points, then called him to pit road. The BHRVA Team cranked out a fast pit stop changing all four tires and adding fuel. Unfortunately, following the pit stop the team received a pit road penalty and had to come back down pit road. Setzer restarted in the 20th position one lap down the leader.
• “Hang in there Dennis,” coached Richmond. “You can get back on the lead lap.”
• Now Setzer was on a mission determined to make up the lost ground. In just five laps he gained seven positions and moved himself into the 11th spot.
• The final two cautions of the night waved due to rain late in the race. Despite the pit road penalty on the last pit stop of the night Setzer came back and scored the 13th finishing position.

Kyle Busch won the American Commercial Lines 200. Ron Hornaday, Mike Skinner, Matt Crafton and Chad McCumbee rounded out the top five.
