Mike Bliss will drive the No. 4 Open Joist Dodge this Saturday at Talladega Superspeedway. He will pilot the Open Joist Dodge in five of the six remaining races, with Atlanta still TBD.
Bliss will be making his 10th NASCAR series start at the Superspeedway this weekend. He has five NASCAR Nextel Cup Series stars, three NASCAR Busch Series starts and one NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series starts on the 2.66 mile oval.
Bliss will pilot “Rudolph” in the Mountain Dew 250. This particular chassis is the newest speedway chassis at BHR.
I’ve Got a Friend in You: “You sure don’t go into Talladega with more enemies than friends. You just can’t survive without them out on the track. Everyone once in a while you need someone to give you that extra push to get your truck moving. I think my teammate Dennis (Setzer) and I will have our work cut out for us. There are not that many Dodges in the field so we really have to stick together. We will meet before the race starts and come up with our game plan. The key is making sure the game plan goes as planned, which hardly ever happens in this sport.”
Crew Chief Marcus Richmond on Rudolph: “Everyone learns the song Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer when they are a child. Well, our speedway truck was built during the Christmas season several years ago. So, we took it to Daytona testing with the body painted green and the front nose red. It ticked off some pretty good laps and one of the guys started calling it Rudolph. The nickname just stuck.”
