Driver Ken Schrader had his hands full during the running of the Toyota Tundra 200 at Nashville Superspeedway. The No. 18 Fastenal Dodge was not handling to his liking as he battled both tight and loose conditions entering and exiting the corners respectively. Schrader started the event in the 23rd position and never really grasped the handling on the Dodge Ram. He finished 22nd one lap down to winner Travis Kvapil.

The No. 18 Fastenal Dodge Nashville Race Recap

Schrader qualified the No. 18 Fastenal Dodge in the 23rd position Saturday morning.

In the opening laps of the event Schrader gained several positions, climbing as high as 19th position before a loose condition overtook the Fastenal Dodge. Schrader was unable to keep the truck on the bottom and fell to 30th.

On lap 34 race leader Mike Skinner passed the No. 18 Fastenal Dodge putting Schrader one lap down.

Fortunately, the first caution waved on lap 43 and Schrader was awarded the lucky dog and allowed to return to the lead lap.

"I'm tight in and loose off," said Schrader under the caution. Crew Chief Jeff White made the call to come down pit road for a variety of adjustments. The Fastenal Racing Team changed all four tires, added fuel, made an air pressure adjustment and went up four rounds on the track bar. He restarted in the 25th position.

By lap 80 Schrader worked his way to the 21st position, but was still battling the tight in and loose off condition.

White once again brought Schrader down pit road under the third caution for more adjustments. The Fastenal Racing Team changed all four tires, added fuel and quickly sent Schrader on his way. He restarted in the 20th position.

"The adjustments did help a little," said Schrader a few laps later while under the final caution.

The air pressure and wedge adjustment proved to help when Schrader's lap times in the final laps of the event were the fastest he had run all day. He kept that momentum for several laps before he finished the event in 22nd position.

Kvapil won the Toyota Tundra 200 before an estimated crowd of 26,500. Ron Hornaday Jr., Skinner and David Starr rounded out the top five finishers. The next event for the NCTS will be at Bristol Motor Speedway on August 22nd with Schrader behind the wheel.
