Mike Bliss will pilot the No. 4 Open Joist Dodge this weekend at ORP. It will be Bliss’s fourth start in the Bobby Hamilton Racing Dodge. In only seven NCTS starts at ORP Bliss has three top-five and four top-10 finishes.

  • He will be making his 12th start at ORP on Friday night. He has four NASCAR Busch Series and seven NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series starts at the 0.686 mile oval.
  • Bliss is also scheduled to pilot the No. 4 Open Joist Dodge at Nashville Superspeedway and Bristol Motor Speedway next month.
  • Bliss will pilot “Angel” at ORP. This particular chassis last competed at Memphis Raceway Park with Kevin Hamlin behind the wheel. It will be Bliss’s first time to drive this chassis.

Bliss looking for fourth top-10 finish: The streak continues another week. The Open Joist Racing Team is hoping for the same success this weekend they have had the last three times Bliss has driven the No. 4 Dodge Ram. Bliss recorded a fifth place finish at Dover, a seventh place finish at Milwaukee and a ninth place finish at Kentucky earlier this month.

Bobby Hamilton Racing Open House Announced: Bobby Hamilton Racing will once again host its Open House on Thursday, August 9th. The event will run from 5pm until 8pm. It will include an autograph session, pit crew competition, racing games and much more. There will be a minimum $5 charge per person at the door. Children five and under are free. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.

Mike Bliss on ORP: “I have had some success at Indy. I have never won a race, but I have come close. Short track racing is tons of fun, but as a driver you really have to be on your game. Things happen so quick sometimes you only have a split second to react and that second can determine if your going behind the wall or not. A lot of race tracks we race on you can concentrate on the driver in front of you and attack him. At a short track you not only have to concentrate on the driver in front of you, but the one behind you too. It’s almost like a game of cat and mouse. You have to wait for the driver in front of you to make a mistake and then pounce on him.”
