No. 18 Fastenal Dodge Ram Race Recap
The AAA Insurance 200
Dover International Speedway

Ken Schrader knew he had a stellar truck underneath him heading into turn one on the first lap of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series AAA Insurance 200 at Dover International Speedway on Friday, but a multi-truck pile up coming out of turn two on the same lap spoiled any chance of an afternoon celebration.

Friday morning Schrader qualified the Fastenal Dodge in the 23rd position for the eighth race of the season. The Fastenal Racing Team made a minor adjustment following qualifying to loosen up the No. 18 Fastenal Dodge before the start of the race.

It didn’t take long for disaster to strike. Schrader was coming off of turn two on lap one when leader Mike Skinner and Clint Bowyer tangled forcing everyone behind them to slam on their brakes. Unfortunately, Bill Lester was trying to slow down to avoid the mayhem when he was turned sideways by another competitor right into the path of the No. 18 Fastenal Dodge.

The Fastenal Dodge sustained crucial damage and was forced behind the wall for repairs. The Fastenal Racing Team repaired the severe left front and rear damage. After 172 laps behind the wall Schrader made the journey down pit road to return to the track, but after competing only two laps he was forced back behind the wall.

The Fastenal Racing team once again went to work on securing sheet metal. Schrader made one more attempt at returning to action with two laps remaining in the event. He was able to limp across the finish line in 33rd position.

Ron Hornaday Jr. won the AAA Insurance 200 before an estimated crowd of 36,750. Stacey Compton, Travis Kvapil, Johnny Benson and Mike Bliss rounded out the top five finishers. The next event for the NCTS will be at Texas Motor Speedway on June 8, 2007 with Schrader driving the Fastenal Dodge.
