Bobby Hamilton Jr. on Atlanta Motor Speedway: “We had a really good run going at Atlanta this past spring in Bobby Dotter’s No. 08 truck and we just got taken out on the last lap. The 75 truck got loose as we got underneath him and he just came down into us. We had spun down low and the 59 truck just clobbered us. Atlanta is one of my favorite race tracks. I have always run well there. I qualified on the outside pole last year for the cup race and thought we were going to finish in the top 10, but had tire problems. As a driver, you love Atlanta because you can race the high line, the low line and even in the middle. It’s a really fast track and you can get a killer run on someone coming out of the corners, that allows you to make up time on the racetrack if you are running well. Some of the places we go, the field is running pretty much the same speed and it takes forever to catch somebody. But at Atlanta you can move up a lane and pick up two or three-tenths on the competition. That’s what makes for good racing among the drivers as well as for the fans watching in the stands or at home. My dad (Bobby Hamilton, Sr.) had a wild finish there two years ago with Mike Skinner and I am looking to repeat it."

What is it about Atlanta Motor Speedway that makes it so much fun to race there?
“I have always seemed to run fairly well there. As a driver, you can run well in all the different grooves of the racetrack – the high groove, low groove and middle groove. One thing about Atlanta Motor Speedway it is fast … really fast. I guess one of the reasons why I really like the place so much is the fact that you can make up time on the race track when you are running good. At other tracks, the field runs similar lines and it takes forever to catch somebody. But in Atlanta, if your truck is running good, you can move up a lane and pick up two or three-tenths of a second per lap on the competition. That’s what makes for great racing among the drivers as well as for the fans watching on television or in the stands. Hopefully the Fastenal Dodge will be one of the faster trucks on Saturday”
