Georgia Native Chase Miller will be making his first career NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series start at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Saturday. Miller scored several wins on the AMS fifth-mile in a Legends Car, but this will be his first start on the 1.54 mile-oval. The EasyCare Vehicle Service Contracts 200 will mark Miller’s 5th NCTS career start. In his previous four races Miller has an average starting position of 14th and a finishing position of 20th.  Miller will pilot the No. 4 Fastenal Dodge this weekend at Atlanta. Teammates Bobby Hamilton Jr. and Scott Lagasse Jr. will also carry the Fastenal colors.

Atlanta Homecoming: “I have been looking forward to racing at Atlanta for a long time. I grew up about an hour from the track and have always dreamed about competing there in a NASCAR series event. I have raced my legends car their several times on the fifth-mile oval, but I have no experience on the big track. I know Bobby Hamilton Sr. loves that race track so I plan to get a couple of pointers from him before I go out for practice. From what he has told me so far it seems to be a great track to race on. It has more than one groove and I seem to run best at those type tracks. BHR has had some great trucks here in the past. I think we might surprise a few people on how well we might run.”  

Halloween Memories: “Most of the time I was racing on Halloween so I don’t have a lot of memories of trick or treating, but I do have one that stands out. I was in middle school and a bunch of us got together and dressed up. My buddy decided to be funny and dress up as a girl. He showed up in a hula costume complete with the coconut bra and grass skirt. I have never laughed so hard in my life. I don’t even remember what I wore that night because all I can think about was him walking around in a bra and skirt. When you are in middle school you do a lot to impress girls and I am not sure that was the smartest move for him.

Bet You Didn’t Know … Miller is a licensed pilot. About a year ago Miller and his dad began taking flying lessons for fun. Ironically, Miller is afraid of heights.    

Crew Chief Marcus Richmond on recent golf outing with Miller: “Last week Chase and I played in a golf tournament for Craftsman. It was quite the experience. I am an avid golfer and Chase is definitely a rookie. I knew going into the tournament he had never played before, but I did not realize how bad he would be. I have never laughed so hard in my life. I think my favorite memory from the day is when he did an impression of Happy Gilmore from the movie and believe it or not it was his best shot of the day. Even with Chase’s inability to swing a golf club our team finished second. It was great to get to know Chase more, but next time we go golfing I will let me just drive the cart!”
