Lagasee Jr. Lands 26th Place Finish at Memphis

In his first start in the No. 04 Hemi Dodge since Texas in June, Dodge Hemi Driver Scott Lagasse Jr. battled an extremely tight race truck in the O’Reilly 200 at Memphis Motorsports Park. Lagasse Jr. came home in the 26th position after qualifying 31st for the 14th race of the 2006 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season.

• By lap 20 Lagasse Jr. had worked his way into the 28th position. He radioed in, “it’s tight center off.” • The second caution waved on lap 62 and Lagasse Jr .came down pit road for four tires, fuel and an air pressure adjustment to aide the tight condition. • He continued to gain track position as the laps ticked by. By lap 74 he was running in the 23rd position. “The truck is still tight and it’s getting really hard to turn in the corner,” said Lagasse Jr.. • On lap 100, the halfway point of the race, Lagasse Jr. was running 19th, but the leaders were only laps away from putting him a lap down. • On lap 177 the fifth caution waved and Crew Chief Bob Bissinger made the call to come down pit road for tires, fuel and a track bar adjustment in an attempt loosen up the truck. He restarted 23rd. • During the long green flag run the No. 04 Hemi Dodge continued to get extremely tight resulting in Lagasse Jr. losing track position in the closing laps. He finished in the 26th position. It was the team’s fourth top-25 finish of the season.
Jack Sprague won the O’Reilly 200 before an estimated crowd of 27,000, posting his 26th NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series victory. Erik Darnell, Matt Crafton, Ron Hornaday Jr. and Mike Bliss filled out the top-five. The NCTS is off for the next two weeks. The Power Stroke Diesel 200 at O’Reilly Raceway Park is scheduled for August 4.
