Timothy Peters will be making his second career Memphis start this weekend. He finished 19th in last year’s NCTS event.Peters will be driving the Bobby Hamilton Racing chassis “Demon” this weekend at Memphis Motorsports Park. The O’Reilly 200 at Memphis will mark Peters’ 30th NCTS career start.Last week’s 9th qualifying effort at The Kentucky Speedway was Peters’ second top-10 starting position of the 2006 season. His first came the week before at Kansas Speedway.
Peters on Memphis Motorsports Park: “I really like Memphis. All I can remember about last year is how hot it was. The heat completely out weighed any great finish you could have had. I checked the weather the other day and it looks like it will be another hot one. Memphis is a fun track to race at. Both Bobby (Hamilton) Sr. and Bobby (Hamilton) Jr. have wins there so I will have them to pull from. The last time I ran this particular chassis was Milwaukee and it was the best finish of the season so far. I hope we can back that up this weekend at Memphis.”
Peters on Bobby Sr. Being Back: “Having Bobby Sr. back at the race track this past weekend was great for the team and for me,” said Peters. “Bobby just gives me so much confidence. He is very encouraging and always knows when to be stern with me and when to be uplifting. Even though he is still recovering from his treatments he was in all our meetings last week and on the radio during practice and the race. He is what every driver wants in an owner. I got to spend July 4th with him on his boat. That morning he called and asked me to take him to Home Depot to get a generator. We went and got the generator and got it home and in about five minutes we had the thing blown up. I had Bobby Sr. laughing so hard I thought he was going to fall over. So, it was off to the store for another generator. It’s moments like that I love driving for Bobby Sr. He is not only your owner, but your best friend.”
