No. 4 Dodge Motorsports - Timothy Peters Kentucky Race Review
07-10-2006 | Sparta, KY

Timothy Peters was excited heading into the start of the Built Ford Tough 225. His Dodge Racing team posted fast laps in practice and qualified 9th Saturday afternoon for the night’s events. All his excitement went out the window not long into the 150 lap event when Peters realized he had a beast on his hands. He battled with a wicked loose race truck most of the night and was able to salvage a 25th finishing position in the 13th NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event of the season.

• On lap 17 Peters radioed in the truck was loose on both ends of the race track. “I can’t be too aggressive on the track or I will lose it,” said Peters.
• Peters made his first pit stop of the night on lap 28 for tires, fuel and the Dodge Racing Team went down four rounds on the track bar to help the loose condition.
• He restarted in the 27th position and immediately began to fall back in the field. Luckily, a caution fell several laps later allowing Peters to come back in and remove two rubbers out of the rear springs.
• The fifth caution came out on lap 59 and once again Peters came down pit road to the attention of his team for another track bar adjustment. He restarted 29th.
• By lap 100 Peters had made his way back into the top-25, but was the first truck one lap down.
• By lap 119 most of the field had begun to make green flag pit stops and Peters came down pit road for right sides tires and a wedge adjustment.
• Five laps later the sixth caution of the night fell before all the leaders had pitted and put Peters another lap down. He came down pit road under caution to the attention of his Dodge Racing Team. They changed left side tires and made an air pressure adjustment to tighten up the truck.
• Over the final laps of the race Peters continued to battle the loose race truck. He finished the event in 25th position, two laps down.

Ron Hornaday Jr. won the Built Ford Tough 225 his second NASCAR Craftsman Truck race of the season and his 29th series career win. Rick Crawford, Brendan Gaughan, Johnny Benson and David Ragan rounded out the top-five finishers.
