No. 4 Dodge Dover Race Recap
• Peters qualified in the 21st starting position Friday morning at the famous Monster Mile. • The start of the AAA Insurance 200 was delayed for an hour due to rain that moved in the area late in the afternoon. • The first caution waved on lap 20 when teammate Scott Lagasse Jr. spun in turn two. Peters had fallen back to the 27th position. “The truck is really tight,” said Peters under caution. He came down pit road to the attention of the No. 4 Dodge Motorsports Dodge Racing Team who changed all four tires, added fuel and made a major track bar adjustment to fix the tight condition. He restarted in the 25th spot.
• The adjustments proved to be the cure for the tight condition as Peters began work his way through the field. The second caution came out on lap 63 and once again Peters came down pit road to the attention of the Dodge Motorsports Dodge Racing Team. They performed a lightening fast pit stop changing tires, adding fuel and adding a round of bite in the left rear. He restarted in the 18th position. • Peters worked his way up to the 16th position when the third caution waved on lap 98. He came down pit road for another wedge adjustment, but did not take any tires. The speedy pit stop allowed him to restart in the 4th position.
• For the next 40 laps Peters held his own in the top 10. On lap 159 Kelly Sutton brought out the fourth and final caution of the afternoon. Team Manager Danny Gill made the call to come down pit road one final time for tires and fuel. Peters restarted in the 15th position. • Peters was able to work his way back inside the top 15 in the final laps, finishing in the 14th position. It was the team’s third top-15 finish of the 2006 season.
