Lagasse Jr. on Racing at Gateway: “I have never raced at Gateway. I went last year and watched the Busch race so I have seen the track. I have talked to Bobby, Little Bobby and Timothy about the track and its characteristics. I am trying to do everything I can before the race to be prepared. Last weekend I watched the truck race from last year to familiarize myself with the fastest way around the track. It is more like a short track than a big track. Its very unique and almost a weird place to race at. I think that is good for me because usually the more complicated the track is the more I tend to like them. I have been told turns three and four are like Milwaukee and I ran well there in the past. Our goal is to get up in the points this weekend. We are headed for the danger zone and that is one place I do not want to be going into Charlotte. No. 04 Dodge Motorsports Dodge Fast Facts
Testing: We have been doing a lot of testing lately. It is really tough right now if you drive a Dodge. The Fords and Toyota have taken off this year especially at tracks like California and Atlanta. It has made us work a lot harder and BHR is doing its part in finding a solution. It’s tough for the guys. They are working so hard right now. This shop is running non-stop to get the trucks better. You are beating your head against the wall because we should be winning races right now. I have never driven a Ford or Chevy so I cannot speak on anything, but Dodge. I know we were wide open at Atlanta and you saw how off we were. Then they put you on the chassis dyno and you rank right up with the winners. We got to Martinsville and won the pole and Bobby Jr. finished 10th so it proves we are still competitive. I will be honest with you it makes me nervous because if something happens out of my control at Gateway and I fall out of the top-30 in points then I will need a miracle to make the race at Charlotte. Let’s just hope that does not happen.”
