No. 04 Bailey's Dodge Bobby Hamilton Nashville Race Review
08-15-2005 | Mt. Juliet, TN

Defending Nashville race winner Bobby Hamilton battled a tight Bailey’s Dodge in traffic, but steadily climbed his way through the field until his team could make the significant chassis adjustment that enabled him to finish the race in the ninth position, his ninth top 10 this year.

“It amazes me that a chassis adjustment could make that big of a difference,” Hamilton said.  “But after they did that, it was like my truck took off.  I got ran over under caution which knocked my front end in and the guys were able to fix it and get me back out there competitively.  I was picking up spots there at the end and then several cautions came out which hurt us.  All in all we’re happy with the results considering the tow was knocked out and all the aero damage we had.”

No. 04 Bailey’s Dodge Toyota Tundra 200 Recap

• Hamilton started the race in the 23rd position after qualifying earlier in the day on the 1.33-mile oval.
• Under the second caution on lap 8 Hamilton pitted because he thought he had a flat tire and didn’t want to take any chances.  He restarted the race in 32nd.  As it checked out, the tire was not flat.
• On lap 42 the third caution came out with Hamilton in the 19th position.  He said, “I’m a little tight in traffic, but have learned some stuff that is helping that.”  Crew Chief Danny Rollins called him into the pits for four fresh tires and fuel.  The team added the first set of tires so they could save their sticker tires until the final laps.  Hamilton restarted in 15th position.
• By the fifth caution he had worked his way into the top 10 and the team pitted once again placing on scuffed tires.  This time they made a track bar adjustment to aid the tight condition.  He restarted in the 20th spot.
• The sixth caution came out on lap 78 and Hamilton drove by it unscathed.  Then Rich Bickle turned into him knocking in the right front fender.  So Hamilton was forced to pit under caution to help the damage.  The team hammered it back out, adding tape to smooth the surface and sent Hamilton back out in the 28th position.
• Hamilton quickly picked up positions working his way back up to 11th by lap 112.
• On lap 113 the seventh caution came out and the team finally added the coveted sticker tires for their driver to finish the race on.  While pitting, the jack dropped on the left side and cost the team a few crucial seconds of time.  Hamilton restarted in the 18th position.
• During the final laps and the next two cautions Hamilton worked his way up to the ninth spot where he finished the Toyota Tundra 200.

David Reutimann won the Toyota Tundra 200, his first win in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.  Ted Musgrave, Todd Bodine, Mike Skinner and Todd Kluever followed in the top five.
