25 year-old Atlanta, GA native Garrett Liberty will make his initial foray into NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series competition when he makes his first series start in the Sylvania 200 at New Hampshire International Speedway’s Magic Mile on Saturday afternoon. Liberty will pilot the Bobby Hamilton Racing No. 4 Dodge normally driven by Timothy Peters. Peters will return to the seat for the NCTS event at Martinsville on October 22nd. Liberty’s early racing skill came from a Karting background in the WKA & SKUSA, which then led into racing Quarter Midgets, Legend Cars and Late Model cars, although his main focus while in school was football. Liberty was twice All State, All Region and County Player of the Year. Intent on pursuing a career in football, he attended Middle Georgia College, where he was a two-time All American Wide Receiver. Realizing that the NFL was not in his future, Liberty refocused his attention back to his first love, auto racing.
Are you ready for your first NCTS start? “I have been ready. I am really excited about it, I can’t wait. We tested at Nashville and Bobby Hamilton was a big help. The team was very patient, we worked on a lot of different things and we continued to build speed throughout the test. I was very happy with the test and with how the team worked together. Hopefully some of that will translate into a good run together at New Hampshire.”
What are your goals for Saturday’s race at New Hampshire? Basically my goals are to run the entire race, show that I belong in this series and prove that I have respect for these drivers in the series that are running for the championship. I just want to get some seat time, finish the race and gain as much knowledge about this series and these trucks as possible. It is a great
opportunity for me and I plan on making the most out of it. The team is certainly capable, they have had some good runs and I am really looking forward to getting behind the wheel.”

Crew Chief Randy Seals on New Hampshire and working with Garrett Liberty: “New Hampshire is a fast flat one mile racetrack not unlike Milwaukee or St. Louis. The surface is really smooth and it is very important to have the proper body attitude with these trucks at a place like New Hampshire. You need to keep the nose down and the tail up. Track position is very important there because it is so hard to pass. I am looking forward to running with Garrett Liberty. We have had several young drivers in this truck this year and I really like their enthusiasm and willingness to race hard and learn.”
