Bristol Preview: Bristol is a race fans dream. It has high banks, fast speeds and side-by-side racing. It is a fun track to race on, but can be mentally draining. Things happen so quick at Bristol you can’t have a game plan. You don’t have a lot of time to react what is happening in front of you. I will rely heavily on my spotter (Jerry Adcock) during the race. You can’t see what is happening in the corners so Jerry is my eyes. I never second-guess what he tells me and at Bristol you don’t have time to question anything. If we can come out of Bristol with all four fenders on it I will be happy. I had a fast truck there last year and so did the No. 18 Team. I am confident we will be fast and able to show what this team is capable of.”
   
The Pits: “Pit stops are so crucial at Bristol. It takes 16 seconds to complete one lap. If you have a tire go down or have to come back in for a lost lug nut it will kill your chance of a solid finish. Misfortune can truly make you or break you. The pit road at Bristol is somewhat tricky. There is a front stretch and a backstretch. You enter pit road from turn three and make your way down the front stretch. You make your pit stop and when you come out of your pit stall instead of going onto the track you have to go around the backstretch of pits. You make a complete circle. NASCAR does it so there is not a disadvantage to pitting on the backstretch. My guys have been practicing so I am confident they will be on top of their game for the race. Pit stops count every weekend, but they really count this week.”
    
Big Orange Country: “Everyone who knows me is aware that I am a Vanderbilt University fan. I have been for as long as I can remember. My dad went to school there and was a professor there at one time. Several of the guys I went to high school with went on to play ball there. I just grew up around Vanderbilt. My Crew Chief Kip McCord is known for being a University of Tennessee fan. This week we are in the middle of big orange country and they are not going to let me forget it. Kip and I had a bet going into the Nashville race. If I set on the pole or won the race than Kip would wear a Vandy hat during the race. When nether of those happened they decided I should have to wear a Vols cap. I have not decided if I am going to do it not or yet. I came in the shop this week and they have made a UT decal for my truck. It is identical to the kind people put on the back of their trucks. I have a feeling I am loosing the battle, but as long as they don’t paint my truck orange we will be okay.”

• Montgomery is racing Angel this weekend at Bristol.
• The Tennessee native will be making his second NCTS career start at Bristol Wednesday night. He competed in last year’s event and finished 20th.
• In 2003, Montgomery competed in the NASCAR Busch Series spring event at the 0.533-mile concrete oval. He finished 22nd.
• Crew Chief Kip McCord served as the team manager for Kenny Wallace’s 1994 NASCAR Busch Series win at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Crew Chief Kip McCord on Bristol: “Bristol gives me nightmares. I love the track and I love racing there, but you have you have no control over what happens. There is no strategy at Bristol. It is pure short track racing. It is like jetfighters in a basement. You stay bunched up there and things happen so quickly. I preach to my guys to have a plan of action if something happens on the track. You come to Bristol with parts already fixed if something breaks or you are involved in a wreck. Duct tape can be your best friend during the race. I was the team manager for Filmar racing in 1994 when Kenny Wallace won at Bristol. It is one of the best places to win. The fans get so excited and they pump you up. Pulling into victory lane again at Bristol would be an awesome memory.”
