Setzer Scores Another Top Five and Secures Eighth in NCTS Point Standings at HMS
Homestead, FL | 11-17-2008
Dennis Setzer, driver of the No. 18 Rob Lambdin’s University Dodge Ram, scored his fifth top five of the season in the final NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway. After qualifying fifth for the Ford 200, Setzer battled a tight race truck for most of the 134-lap event. After a two year absence Bobby Hamilton Racing and Setzer both returned to the top 10 in the NCTS Championship point standings by securing the eighth spot.

Setzer Reflects on Intense Points Battle Heading Into Homestead
Martinsville, VA | 11-10-2008
BHR Flashback: HMS was the site of Bobby Hamilton Sr.’s fourth career NCTS victory. He led 67 laps in the final race of the 2003 season to take home the checkered flag over veteran Rick Crawford. It was his second victory of that season and his BHR’s only victory at the 1.5-mile oval.

Early Race Incident Derails Setzer Efforts to a 15th Place Finish at Phoenix
Avondale, AZ | 11-10-2008
Dennis Setzer, driver of the No. 18 Power Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, scored a 15th place finish in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Lucas Oil 150 at Phoenix International Raceway. An early race incident out of Setzer’s control derailed the team’s efforts for a top 10 finish. Despite finishing outside the top-10 Setzer still remains eighth in the NCTS Championship Point Standings.

Phoenix Home to Sweet Memories for BHR and Stellar Stats for Setzer
Martinsville, VA | 11-04-2008

BHR Flashback: PIR was the site of Bobby Hamilton Racing’s first truck series victory. Joe Ruttman scored the team’s first victory in 2003 by leading 101 of the 150 laps. Last year BHR Driver Mike Bliss scored a third place finish at PIR after he led 54 laps before being “moved” out of the way by Ron Hornaday Jr. in the closing laps of the event.

“Can you hear me now?” by Dennis Setzer: “Several months ago when our organization was forced to shut down to one team I was out fishing with my buddies the day it happened. I was unaware of what was going on at the race shop when I received a phone call from my boss Lori (Hamilton). She started explaining to me what was happening and said “we are cutting back to one team and you’re…” when my phone just cut off. The line just went dead and here I am out in the middle of a lake with no signal in sight. I turned to my buddies and said, “Guys, I think I just got fired.” Thankfully, we were able to get reconnected and I learned I still had a job. Every time I see one of those cell phone service commercials about service cutting off I just stop and laugh.  I think Lori and I could be featured in the one about ‘a bad time to lose cell service’.”

Setzer Stays Clear of the Goblins and Comes Home 13th in Texas
Fort Worth, Texas | 11-03-2008
Dennis Setzer and the No. 18 Dodge Racing team fought a loose-in, tight-off condition during the running of the Chevy Silverado 350K at Texas Motor Speedway Halloween night. Regardless of making numerous wedge and air pressure adjustments during the 147-lap event they continued to battle a truck that would not turn in the corners. He finished the 23rd race of the 2008 season in 13th position.

Setzer Ready for Halloween Showdown in Texas Friday Night
Martinsville,VA | 10-28-2008

Setzer on the scariest moment in your racing career? "The crazy thing is that it’s really not that scary while it happens. Everything transpires so fast on the track you don’t have time to stop and think, "This is going to hurt" before you hit the wall or another truck. In fact I’ve never found myself frightened before a race or even while a wreck is in progress. However, after it is all over and I am sitting there looking at a mangled truck or a scratched helmet, that is when I realized how bad it could’ve been. As a race car driver we tend to put all those scary moments in the back of our head and hope they don’t revisit us anytime soon."

Extremely Loose No. 18 Dodge Ram Relegated Setzer to a 19th Place Finish at AMS
Hampton, GA | 10-27-2008
Dodge Driver Dennis Setzer was singing a tune of, "Mama said there’d be days like this," as he battled an extremely loose race truck during the E-Z-GO 200 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Setzer started the 130-lap event in ninth, but an ill-handling Dodge Ram relegated him to a 19 th place finish.

Setzer Banking on Dodge Viper To Take Him To Victory Lane in Atlanta
Martinsville, VA | 10-21-2008
Tricky Setzer: "In the garage I am not known for being a big prankster, but I do have a few tricks up my sleeve every once in a while. The best trick I have ever pulled off is on a friend of mine. We had been racing late models, and he was partying just a little bit. So I took advantage and went back to the hotel a little early. I removed the numbers from several of the hotel doors and switched them around so that he did not know which room was his. He tried to use his key to open several doors and nothing happened. The longer we let it go on the madder he got. I had a big time watching him. The tricks are better when no one expects you are the one who is pulling it off."

Hornish Finishes Ninth in First-Ever NASCAR Craftman Truck Series Race
Martinsville, VA | 10-20-2008
Sam Hornish Jr., driver of the No. 4 Penske Truck Rental Dodge Ram in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in conjunction with Bobby Hamilton Racing, had an impressive series debut, capturing a ninth-place finish Saturday in the Kroger 200 at Martinsville Speedway.

In a day full of on-track activity, as he was pulling "double duty" in the Truck Series and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Hornish qualified the Penske Racing Dodge Ram in the 16 th position on Saturday morning. After two subsequent Cup Series practice sessions, Hornish strapped in for 200 laps at the "paperclip" shaped oval.

Setzer Comes Up One Spot Short of Claiming Martinsville Sweep
Martinsville, VA | 10-20-2008
On a brisk autumn afternoon nestled among the hills of Virginia Dodge Driver Dennis Setzer was poised to add another trophy from Martinsville Speedway to his already stout collection. After qualifying sixth, his eighth straight top-10 starting spot, Setzer maneuvered the No. 18 Dodge Ram into the fourth position early in the event and maintained his position until four laps remained in the 200-lap event. At that moment in the race the cloudy skies opened up and shined a little bit of sunshine on Setzer as both the second and third place competitors ran out of fuel. Knowing fuel was not an issue for his Dodge Ram Setzer coasted to a second place finish. It was his fourth top-five finish of the season.

SETZER LOOKS TO DEFEND HOME TURF THIS WEEKEND AT MARTINSVILLE
Martinsville,VA | 10-13-2008

Setzer on who is more important the driver or the crew chief at Martinsville: "I used to think the driver because even though you could have a bad pit stop or a race call and the driver could work his way back to the front. As long as you had a fast truck you could make up the ground. It is not that way anymore. Track position is so important now I think the crew chief is the key player. He is the one who has to make the call when to come down pit road and when to stay out. I can give him my two cents on it, but he is the one who makes the final decision. Marcus (Richmond) made a great call that won us the race in March and I have every confidence in the world in him."

Setzer Comes Home 13th After Eventful Day at Talladega
TALLADEGA, AL | 10-06-2008
After qualifying eighth, the seventh straight top-10 qualifying time in a row, for the Mountain Dew 250 at Talladega Superspeedway on Friday, Dodge Driver Dennis Setzer knew he had a horse underneath him for the race. He proved that by leading the race, overcoming a pit road penalty for too fast entering pit road and held his own in the top 10 most of the event. In the final laps Setzer tried to find a position to move past his competitors but was blocked in resulting in a 13 th place finish.

Setzer: Being in the Right Place at the Right Time is the Key to Talladega
Martinsville,VA | 09-29-2008

Cautiously Aggressive: "Since they repaved the race track at Talladega it is so smooth and has so much grip that the truck just rides around without much change. You just hold it wide open like you are on a weekend drive. It makes it to where you have to focus on horsepower and not the handling of the truck like we normally do. Arrington Engines has been hard at work preparing for this weekend’s events. We have a tremendous relationship with our engine provider, so there is always a lot of faith in our superspeedway program. I have to make the best plan to divide and conquer the competitors in front of me. It seems everyone is always asking what my game plan is heading into this race. To be honest you really have to be cautiously aggressive. It may seem odd to put those two words together, but it is really what it’s like racing there. I think it’s a good idea to assess the race situation in the very beginning and let the others sort things out, but with about a one-third of the race left you have to put yourself in position to start moving forward. If you have a fast truck, then others will draft with you but only as it benefits them. One minute you are drafting and the next you are hung out. That’s just how this race goes. So to position yourself in the right place at the right time is key to Talladega."

Setzer Rebounds to 16th Place Finish After Late Race Accident
Las Vegas, NV | 09-23-2008

Sometimes in NASCAR things don’t always go as planned. Matter of fact this rang true for BHRVA as their hauler made its trek across country to Las Vegas. It took four hauler drivers and two transporters to get the No. 18 United Dodge to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway after a problem with the trailer plagued the driver. So when Dennis Setzer made his first lap around the track for practice it was a relief. It was more so when he qualified ninth continuing his streak of top-10 starting positions. Then during the race Setzer started off loose but became tight as the race went on. A faulty ignition box and a late race wreck provided several challenges to the Dodge Racing Team throughout the 174-lap event, but Setzer was able to rebound and bring home a 16 th place finish.

One Year of Racing Bliss for Setzer and BHR at Vegas
Martinsville, VA | 09-16-2008
One Year Anniversary: "I still remember getting the call from Lori Hamilton last September. Ken Schrader was driving the No. 18 truck at the time, but was unable to make it to Vegas due to his Sprint Cup commitments. I jumped at the opportunity and thankfully everything ended up working in my favor. I was able to finish out the season for them. Since then the shop has moved locations, I’ve switched crew chiefs, we returned to victory lane and recently just went from two teams to one. Despite all the changes this team continues to persevere. They never stop giving up and that means so much to me as a driver."

Handling Issues Rob Setzer and Team of Top-10 Finish in New Hampshire
Loudon, NH | 09-15-2008

Loudon, NH. (September 15, 2008) The No. 18 AutoServNH.com Racing Team continued to display consistency as they unloaded fast off the trailer at New Hampshire Motor Speedway posting the eighth fastest time in the first practice. Then on Saturday because of afternoon showers qualifying was canceled and the starting lineup was set according to points. Setzer started 10 th on Saturday afternoon, but an extremely tight Dodge Ram derailed the team’s effort of a third straight top-10 finish. He salvaged a 16th place finish despite the handling issues.

Setzer Has Momentum On His Side Leading into New Hampshire
Martinsville, VA | 09-08-2008
More than Just Momentum: “You can do a lot of things to make a team better. You can add new people, buy new parts and even change the driver from time to time. But I think the one thing that makes a team better is something you can’t buy. Momentum by far has to be the best ingredient for a winning team. I can be walking through the garage and you will overhear someone say ‘It doesn’t matter what they do …they have momentum on their side.’ It is the one thing you can’t purchase in racing. Despite all the changes that my team has endured the past few weeks we have momentum on our side. In the past five races we have scored four top-10 finishes and winning the pole and finishing second last weekend in Gateway was icing on the cake. I have known all year long this team could do that, but it just takes everything going your way. The team I have right now is the best of the best. I would put them up against any team in this garage on any given day.”

Runner Up Finish for Setzer After Starting on the Pole in Gateway
Gateway, IL | 09-06-2008
Gateway, IL. (September 6, 2008) – After enduring a week of significant changes to the race team, Dodge Driver Dennis Setzer headed to St. Louis ready to prove to the critics that the Bobby Hamilton Racing was as strong as ever. The Royal Gate Dodge Racing Team unloaded a lighting fast No. 18 Dodge in practice on Friday. Setzer entered qualifying on Saturday morning with renewed confidence and surprised the field as he cranked out the fastest lap of the day. It was the team’s first pole since 2006 and Setzer’s since 2001. Once the race was underway Setzer continued to prove he had a powerhouse underneath him as he ran in the top 10 all but 10 laps of the 160-lap event. Crew Chief Marcus Richmond made the call on the final pit stop to take right side tires only which catapulted Setzer into the second spot. Following the restart Setzer regained the lead for several laps, but was unable to hold off the fast charging second place driver Ron Hornaday Jr. who took four tires on the last pit stop. Setzer held on to pull off an exciting second place finish. It was the team’s third top five of the season and Setzer’s fourth runner-up finish at the Gateway International Raceway.

Setzer To Sport New Dodge Colors in Gateway
Martinsville, VA | 09-03-2008

Setzer on a Gateway To Remember: "I’ve competed in a handful of races at Gateway, but the one I can’t seem to forget is the truck race in 2004. NASCAR had just announced they would implement the one shot green-white-checkered flag finish in all events after the St. Louis race. Bobby Hamilton Sr. was leading with several laps to go when Shane Hmiel ran into the side of him sending him down the back straightaway on his side. Sparks were flying everywhere. I kept thinking this can’t be happening. Then we restarted and the leader got knocked out of the way by the second place finisher. It was like there was a full moon out because the oddest things continued to happen. The race was scheduled to be 160 laps and we ran 14 more before we finally crossed the finish line with no incidents. I just laid back and watched it all unfold in front of me. I was able to miss all the wrecks and finished second. I totally understand why NASCAR changed the rule."

Bristol Melee Ruins Compton's Night in Bristol
Bristol,TN | 08-22-2008
It is a well known fact that when the lights come on at Bristol Motor Speedway the action rises, and Dodge Driver Stacy Compton got caught up in that action when another competitor wrecked in front of him. Compton raced in the top 10 but a loose in tight off condition caused him to lose spots in the event. While in the 18 th spot a fellow competitor spun in turn two causing a melee behind him. Everyone started to check up, Compton was trying to creep past when he was hit from behind and pushed into another truck. The radiator and power steering pump busted forcing Compton to retire from the event. He finished 31st.

Setzer Brings Tahoe Dodge Home in Eighth at Bristol
Bristol, TN | 08-22-2008
After a disappointing finish at another concrete track two weeks ago in Nashville Crew Chief Marcus Richmond brought the best Tahoe Dodge chassis in the shop to Bristol Motor Speedway looking for redemption. After Setzer posted the fastest time in the first practice and qualified eighth for the 16 th race of the season the decision proved to be the right one. The Tahoe Dodge developed a persistent tight condition early into the event, but didn’t stop Setzer from scoring the team’s sixth top-10 finish of the year by coming home in eighth position.

Compton, Knaus and A Short Track Test
Martinsville, VA | 08-18-2008

Compton, Knaus and a Short Track Test: "Long before Chad Knaus become known for calling the shots for Jimmie Johnson he was my crew chief when I drove for Mark Melling in the Sprint Cup Series. One time we were testing at a short track preparing for an upcoming race. I had been screaming all afternoon that the car was extremely loose. I think Chad half believed me because toward the end of the day he decided to climb behind the wheel to see the feel. I helped him get strapped in and reminded him that it was loose. He smiled back at me and took off. I climbed on top of the hauler so that I could talk to him on the radio. He got a little braver as he completed each lap. Then the car got loose, the back end kicked out from under him and it headed straight for the wall. I keyed the mic and made sure he was okay. He didn’t say anything at first, but I could see him moving around so I knew he was okay. I couldn’t resist so I keyed the mic again and said, "It was loose wasn’t." He was a really good sport about it and so was Mark (Melling). We headed back to the shop and worked all night to repair the car. It is still one of my favorite memories."

Bristol: The Only Short Track Left on Setzer's List to Tame
Martinsville, VA | 08-18-2008

If you could be Mike Helton for a Day what would you change about the NCTS, "It is kind of like being asked what you would do if you were President for a day. It is one thing to voice our opinions when we are not the ones doing it. If I was given the chance I don’t think I would want to be Mike Helton for a day. Those guys have a really hard job of directing our sport on both a competition and marketing level. It is easy for us as drivers, owners and fans to think we have the solutions to all the problems. Sometimes I think we do, but other times we are only looking at it from one angle. Their job is to look at it from all angles. We all have the same goal and that is to continue to grow the truck series. We have some teams who have lost funding or are unable to travel to all the races because the costs are so high in the economy now. I think those are the things we need to take a look at and how we can make this better on that angle. I just want to keep trucks on the track."

Compton Comes Home Seventh After Great Qualifying Run at Nashville Superspeedway
Gladeville,TN | 08-11-2008
Gladeville, TN. (August 11, 2008) – On Saturday night under the lights in Music City USA Dodge Driver Stacy Compton proved once again why he loves racing on concrete. Despite it being his first truck start at the Nashville Superspeedway Compton posted the fastest time in the final practice on Friday then he backed that up by laying down the second fastest time in qualifying. Once the race got underway Compton ran up front most of the event, leading 37 laps before a tight race truck and mishap on pit road caused him to lose a few positions but he held on to seventh place. It was the team’s fourth top-10 finish of the season.

Extremely Tight Tahoe Dodge Deflected Setzer to 18th Place Finish at Nashville
Gladeville,TN | 08-11-2008
Gladeville, TN. (August 11, 2008) An extremely tight Tahoe Dodge deflected Dennis Setzer and the Tahoe Racing team to a 18 th place finish in the Toyota Tundra 200 at Nashville Superspeedway. After posting the fastest speed in the first practice and qualifying eighth, the Tahoe Dodge looked to be top contender in the 15th race of the season. Once the green flag dropped Setzer was able to hang in the top 10 for the first 37 laps before the tight condition escaladed. The Tahoe Racing Team made three pit stops and a variety of changes to help the situation but to no avail the condition did not improve and Setzer came home in 18th position.

Compton and Concrete Consistent at Nashville Superspeedway
Martinsville,VA | 08-05-2008

Concrete Keeps Nashville Consistent: "I have not met too many drivers in my time who don’t love the Nashville Superspeedway. It is a race car driver’s dream track due to the surface. An asphalt track is very temperature sensitive and conditions can change several times throughout the race. A concrete track is the total opposite. No matter what the temperature is it never wavers. When you set up the truck the night before during practice you can be pretty confident it will be almost the same when you climb in the truck for qualifying the next afternoon."

Compton Picky about His Superstitions: "I am not superstitious about some things, but I will never pick up a penny on tails. It has been the only one I have ever really believed I guess. I won a championship in the number 13 so numbers and colors don’t bother me at all. However, the moment I see a penny on tails I take off in the other direction."

Creative Communication Might Come in Handy for Setzer in Nashville
Martinsville,VA | 08-04-2008

Creative Communication: "One of the best wins I have witnessed at Nashville came when Bobby Sr. won there in 2004. He didn’t even have radio communication with his crew chief. We are spoiled by the current technology, but sometimes it doesn’t always work. When that happens you have to get creative, go high on the track to show you are loose, or hit the roof with your hand to let them know you are tight. Take Montréal as an example, it was the first time for rain tires during a race, but the rain plagued the radio communication. They were forced to an alternative way of communicating and once again it paid off for the winner."

Compton Comes Home 23rd After Long Night in Indianapolis
Indianapolis, IN | 07-28-2008
At the end of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at O’Reilly Raceway Park, the No. 4 Wabash Valley Chrysler Dodge resembled more characteristics of a demolition derby entry than it did a NCTS Dodge Ram. It was not the night driver Stacy Compton had envisioned. After qualifying 20 th for the 14th race of the season Compton used his veteran skills to work his way through race traffic. He was running 21st when he entered turn three, running the inside line two-wide. Another competitor ducked in the mixed making it a slugfest with Compton left the victim of circumstance. Compton received major front end damage. He came down pit road and the No. 4 Dodge Racing Team fixed the truck on three separate trips down pit road. Compton returned to the track in 29th position one lap down to the leader. He was able to rebound in the final laps to finish 23rd.

Late Race Accident Derails Setzer and the No. 18 Tahoe Dodge to 26th Place Finish
Indianapolis, IN | 07-28-2008
In typical short track fashion Tahoe Driver Dennis Setzer beat and banged his way through traffic into the top 10 for the first 162 laps before an altercation with a lapped truck resulted in substantial damage for the Tahoe Dodge. Setzer came in for repairs several times and the Tahoe Dodge Racing Team jumped into action repairing all the sheet metal on the right front side and replacing the right shock that was destroyed during the accident. Setzer returned to the track three laps down in 27 th position with 32 laps remaining in the event. The damage from the accident derailed Setzer to a 26 th place finish. Despite the poor finish Setzer sits 10 points out of 10 th place in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series point standings.

Compton Proves No Right Side Needed to Race at O'Reilly Raceway Park
Martinsville, VA | 07-22-2008
No Right Side Needed at Indy for Compton: Nationwide race. I qualified 14th and was involved in a wreck right off the bat. It was within the first 10 laps or so. The entire right side of my car was missing. We all thought it looked like I would have to pull behind the wall. However, the roll cage was still intact despite the fact the sheet metal was completely gone. The engine was still running fine and I headed back onto the track. I was furious and was ready to take my frustration out on something. I channeled that frustration to come back through the field to finish third that night. One of the best things about Indy is you can race without a side, front bumper or even a rear bumper. I have seen trucks look like they need to go to the salvage yard after a race at ORP. It’s just good short track racing were areo goes out the door."

Setzer Happy to Be Back Short Track Racing at ORP
Martinsville, VA | 07-22-2008

Setzer Short Track Bound: "I might just be the happiest person in the garage this weekend at Indy. We had a great run last weekend in Kentucky with the No. 18 Tahoe Dodge. Bringing Jeff Hensley on board has really made a difference in how our team communicates. We won at Martinsville in March and had a really good truck at Mansfield before a parts failure took us out of contention. I feel like if we can keep our nose clean we will have a good chance at winning on Friday night. Both the team and myself have scored victories at ORP in the past and I hope we can add another to that list this weekend."

Compton Comes From 28th to Finish 12th at Kentucky Speedway
Martinsville, VA | 07-21-2008
After starting the Built Ford Tough 225 in 28 th position Dodge driver Stacy Compton knew he had to make use of every ounce of the race track to make his way thru traffic. Once the race got underway the No. 4 Tim Short Dodge drove extremely well as Compton used both the high and low lines to knock off competitors one by one. Crew Chief Bryant Frazier used strategy on pit road by taking fuel only on one stop and right side tires during another to gain Compton valuable track position and put him inside the top 10. Compton finished the 13th race of the season in 12th place. It was the team’s fourth top-15 finish of the year.

Setzer Drives Tahoe Dodge to Fourth Place Finish at Kentucky Speedway
Sparta, KY | 07-21-2008
Heading into the Built Ford Tough 225 weekend the Tahoe Dodge Racing team knew they had a good chance at winning the race. Tahoe Dodge driver Dennis Setzer’s stats at Kentucky Speedway were impressive and he was looking to add to them while he was in town for the running of the 13 th race of the 2008 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event. After posting the 11th fastest qualifying lap on Saturday morning Setzer was poised to take on the field later that night. Once the green flag dropped Setzer drove the No. 18 Tahoe Dodge consistently in the top 15 much of the night. It wasn’t until Crew Chief Marcus Richmond made the decision to take on right side scuffs and only one can of fuel on the last pit stop that Setzer cracked the top five. Setzer was able to hold his line in the final 19 laps and score an impressive fourth place finish. It was the team’s second top-five and fourth top-10 finish of the season.

Compton Has Experience at Kentucky Despite No Truck Starts
Martinsville, VA | 07-15-2008

Compton Has Experience at Kentucky Despite No Truck Starts : "Even though I will be making my first start in a truck at Kentucky Speedway this weekend I don’t expect to hit any road blocks. I have had tons of laps in a Nationwide car and tested in 2000 when Dodge was developing their engine program several times. I can’t tell you how many laps I turned during those motor tests, but I know it was a lot. BHR’s mile and a half program has been getting better each week and I think what we have learned the last few weeks will show this weekend. Kentucky has always been a good track for me. I can’t really pin point why, but every time I raced there in a Nationwide car we finished well. For a long time I held the track record in qualifying, but it was recently beat. To be honest I am as excited about going to Kentucky as I have been about a race track in a long time. I think it could be a good weekend for us."

Stats Prove Setzer is the Man to Beat at Kentucky
Martinsville, VA | 07-15-2008

Setzer reflects on 2005 victory at Kentucky Speedway: "Leading up to my win in 2005 I had finished in the top five at Kentucky three times in a row (2001-2003). We finished just outside the top-10 in 2004 after starting on the pole. If there was a track I felt I needed a win at, it was Kentucky. I had been close so may times. We didn’t qualify as well as I thought we would in 2005, but I was confident we could make it up pretty quickly. My crew chief at the time made some really big changes to the truck after the practice on Friday night. It proved to be just what the truck needed. I was able to crack the top 10 by lap 30. We were running second with a few laps left in the race and the leader blew a tire. I was able to capitalize on his problem and finally score a victory. I hate when those things happen that way, but I’ve learned in racing you have to take them however they come. You never really know when you will win another one."

Setzer Earns Hard Fought 12th Place Finish at Memphis
Millington, TN | 07-10-2008

Millington, TN. (June 30, 2008) – After receiving an extra boost earlier in the week by adding Tahoe Smokeless Tobacco to his No. 18 Dodge for the rest of the season, Dodge Driver Dennis Setzer was itching to get to the birthplace of Rock and Roll. He qualified 11th on Saturday afternoon for the O’Reilly 200 at Memphis Motorspors Park and then Setzer poised himself for the fight ahead of him. A tight Dodge Ram that turned loose, a spin on lap 78, a loose camber shim, falling a lap down to the leader and receiving the lucky dog pass are just a few of the obstacles Setzer overcame to score an impressive 12th place finish.

Martinsville, VA | 07-10-2008
MARTINSVILLE, VA., (July 10, 2008) -   Bobby Hamilton Racing (BHRVA) announced today the addition of veteran Crew Chief Jeff Hensley to the No. 4 Dodge Dealers Dodge driven by Stacy Compton and No. 18 Tahoe Dodge driven by Dennis Setzer stable.  With more than 25 years experience in NASCAR industry Hensley will assume the role of Director of Competition for both teams.  Former Director of Competition Charlie Wilson will move into a more hands on role with Dodge Engineering and the No. 18 Tahoe Dodge.

Compton Rock and Rolls to Top-10 Finish at Memphis
Millington, TN | 07-01-2008

Millington, TN. (June 30, 2008) – With just three NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series starts at Memphis Motorsports Park on his resume heading into this year’s O’Reilly 200, Stacy Compton could have been considered more of a rookie than a veteran. But he proved all of that did not matter when he crossed the finish line 10th in the O’Reilly 200, his third of the season. On Friday he finished second in the first practice session and followed it up with a 12th place in the final practice.  Throughout the event the Red River Dodge was tight but the condition did not hinder Compton from leading the race for 21 laps early on and coming home 10th in the end.

Compton Happy Fans Are Still Coming Out With Recent Fuel Surge
Martinsville,VA | 06-24-2008
NASCAR Fan¡¦s Most Dedicated: ¡§I have always said that NASCAR has the most dedicated fans in all of the sports industry. Not only do they show up rain or shine, but they continue to spend the money to come to the events despite the increase in fuel prices this summer. This past weekend in Milwaukee the fans were awesome. The stands were filled despite the dark rain clouds that hung over the track before the race started. When the rain came with about 50 laps left in the race they had to evacuate out of the bleachers due to extreme lighting. They stayed there until the race was restarted. I just love that about our sport. I know how bad the fuel prices are affecting our race team¡¦s travel budget so I know without a doubt our fans pockets are feeling the same hit. The truck series is a great fit for families right now on a budget. The races are short enough for a child¡¦s attention span and the ticket prices are very reasonable. This weekend in Memphis we will do one of our largest autograph sessions of the season. It is a small way we can say thank you to the fans for coming out and supporting us.¡¨

Setzer Going After Elvis Trophy For Hamilton's Honor
Martinsville, VA | 06-24-2008
Setzer Going After Elvis Trophy For Hamilton's Honor:" Lori (Hamilton) told me how much of an Elvis fan Bobby Sr. (Hamilton) was. In fact he was chosen to unveil the trophy here in 2005. He wanted to win that Elvis trophy so bad and I hope we can fulfill that dream of his this weekend. Memphis is one of the tracks I have always performed well at no matter what truck I was driving. It fits my short track driving style. I won in 2001 and Bobby Sr. won here in 2004. Between my finishes and BHR's past strong performances here I predict us having a great race. Like at all short tracks, track position will be a key player in the outcome of the race. The pit crews will really have to be on top of their game because things can happen fast. I remember Bobby Sr. was able to pass on the outside to take the win here in 2004, and that says a lot about what his equipment is capable of. Our goal is to bring home that trophy in honor of Bobby."

Tight Race Truck and Pit Road Penalty Result in 24th Place Finish for the No. 4 Bryden Dodge
Milwaukee, WI | 06-23-2008
After posting the seventh fastest time in the final practice at the Milwaukee Mile on Friday afternoon Dodge Driver Stacy Compton struggled with a loose truck during qualifying. The crew made several adjustments to tighten the Dodge Ram up before the start of the race, but that proved to be too much for the Bryden Dodge once the race started.  A tight race truck and a penalty on pit road for speeding resulted in Compton’s 24th place finish.

Setzer Finishes Comes Back From a Lap Down to Finish 11th at Milwaukee
Milwaukee, WI | 06-23-2008
Milwaukee, WI. (June 23, 2008) – When Dodge Driver Dennis Setzer gets knocked down he always comes back with a vengeance, at least on the race track that is. Once again Setzer overcame numerous road blocks during the 200-lap NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at The Milwaukee Mile Friday night to score a hard fought 11th place finish. It was the team’s sixth top-15 finish of the season.

TragedyBrings Together Two Female Team Owners
By: Raygan Swan, NASCAR.COM | 06-20-2008

On occasion, people are brought together in the midst of the most unfortunate circumstances. But through those adverse circumstances, two widely-known female team owners in NASCAR, who in the past exchanged few words, were fortunate to form an unbreakable bond. Lori Hamilton, widow of the late Bobby Hamilton and DeLana Harvick, a self-described racing brat and daughter of fallen racecar driver John Paul Linville, both found solace in a friendship whose common denominator was loss.

Setzer Takes A Spin in Dodge's Newest Hot Rod
Martinsville, VA | 06-17-2008
Setzer on The Milwaukee Mile: “Milwaukee is one of those tracks that is old in age, but still provides some of the best racing you will see all year. Over the years they have done a great job of keeping up with the times by adding lights, more grandstands and keeping the track in stellar condition. Several years ago they changed it from a day race to a night race. I think it was one of the best decisions they ever made. Racing under the lights in Milwaukee reminds me of the old late model days. The flat layout makes for close racing. You can pass a little easier here than you can at fellow short track Mansfield Motorsports Park, but chances are you will still see people being moved out of the way. BHR has had success at Milwaukee and so have I in years past. I am looking forward to our first visit to the track together.”

Compton's The Real "Slim Shady" at Milwaukee
Martinsville, VA | 06-17-2008
The Ultimate Car Salesman: Before I was able to turn my passion for racing into a career I worked for our family automotive business. We had everything from a salvage yard to a car lot. We sold cars and did maintenance work on them in our garage. I ran the garage for my dad and also ran one of our body shops. All that experience comes in handy on the racing side of things from time to time. On numerous occasions I have had to jump in and fix parts of our race car just like you would in the body shop. We still have the car lot today. If you catch me near the computer chances are I am on the Internet looking for cars to sale.¨

Loose Truck Regulates Compton to 21st Place Finish at Michigan
Brooklyn, MI | 06-16-2008
Brooklyn, MI . (June 16, 2008) – After posting the eighth fastest overall speed in practice on Friday, Dodge Driver Stacy Compton headed into the Cool City Customs 200 with renewed confidence. Then on Saturday morning he posted the 16th fastest qualifying lap before the event.  Once the race got underway an extremely loose Dodge Ram Truck plagued the team much of the afternoon. After making numerous adjustments to better the No. 4 Suburban Dodge during three separate pit stops, Compton and crew were unable to overcome the loose condition. He finished in the 21st position.

Setzer Battles Loose Truck and Finishes 16th at Michigan International Speedway
Brooklyn, MI | 06-16-2008

Brooklyn, MI. (June 16, 2008) – While under cloudy conditions Friday afternoon Dodge Driver Dennis Setzer posted fast laps in both practice sessions. Qualifying was held the next morning under the hot sun which changed the handling of his No. 18 Melling Dodge. Setzer posted the17th fastest lap just behind teammate Stacy Compton. Once the green flag dropped Setzer began to fall back due to a loose truck. “I have lost total grip,” he said on lap 21. The condition worsened as the race went on. A late race pit stop while under the final caution on lap 95 for four fresh tires proved to help the Melling Dodge. Setzer gained four positions in the final three laps of the event to score a 16th place finish.

Compton Goes to Michigan with Purple Necklace in Hand
Martinsville, VA | 06-14-2008
The Purple Necklace:   “Last week as I was rushing out the door for the airport to head to Texas my daughter, Olivia, handed me a purple beaded necklace. She has a box full of dress up clothes and play jewelry. I instantly recognized it as one of her favorites to wear when she plays. She told me to take it with me to Texas and to wear it while I was at the track so I could think of her. Instead of coming to the race last weekend with me, the girls went and spent some time with their Nana. Olivia was concerned I would forget about her while they were gone. I talked to her every day while in Texas and she asked me each time if I was wearing the necklace. She is the poster child for a Daddy’s Girl. No matter how manly you think you are you cannot say no to your little girl. So, if you see a picture of me before the race at Texas I am wearing a new purple necklace. I think it went great with my red Dodge uniform.”

Former Race Winner Setzer Reflects on Being a Dad as he Heads to Michigan
Martinsville, VA | 06-14-2008
Like Father Like Son: ¡§The other day I was eating lunch with several of my crew members. One of them asked me if I would want my son to follow in my foot steps as a race car driver. We had been talking about the pros and cons of the sport and he was wondering if it was something I was willing to push my son toward. Racing has always been good to my family. I have been able to do what I enjoy for a living and make enough money to pay the bills in the process. It has its drawbacks like any job would, but I have always felt the perks outweigh the cons. My son has been racing for a while now. We did the go-kart thing and I recently bought a late model for us to tinker around with. I have taken him testing some, but we have not raced with the car yet. I am impressed with his ability at a young age. However, I don¡¦t want to put too much into it until I know how deep his interest is. Racing is too expensive to have just as a hobby. We have a good time together working on the race car, but I also enjoy watching him play ball just as much. I am thankful he has interests outside of racing. We will wait and see where his interest falls as he gets older. As a Dad I am happy with any path he chooses.¡¨

Setzer Comes From Two Laps Down to Finish 11th in Texas
Ft. Worth, TX | 06-09-2008
Ft. Worth, TX. (June 8, 2008) – Dodge Driver Dennis Setzer started the Sam’s Town 400 at Texas Motor Speedway in the ninth position, his second-best qualifying effort this season. But Setzer encountered problems just after the drop of the green flag when his window net fell down on lap two. The lost of the window net caused the No. 18 Dodge to be extremely loose and Setzer fell quickly to the 29th position. NASCAR penalized the team for the incident and he was forced down pit road on lap 24 for a stop and go penalty. Setzer struggled in the early laps of the event to overcome the penalty. He eventually fell two laps down to the leader before the lucky dog award turned the night around.  After running in the 27th position for much of the night a caution on lap 114 for a spin on the backstretch allowed Setzer to inherit the lucky dog award and receive one of his two laps back. Thankfully another caution waved right after the restart on lap 121. Setzer once again received the lucky dog award and returned to the lead lap. In the final 46 laps Setzer was on a mission and passed 11 competitors to finish the night in 11th place.

Ft. Worth, TX. (June 8, 2008) –After qualifying 18th for the Sam’s Town 400 at Texas Motor Speedway (TMS) Dodge Driver Stacy Compton made a charge to the front picking up six positions in only three laps. The engine eventually expired on lap 87. Compton retired from the event in 30th position.

Setzer Looking to Add Another Cowboy Hat to His Collection in Texas
Martinsville, VA | 06-04-2008
Reaching Milestones:   “The Craftsman Truck Series has been really good to me over the years.  I have really found a home to race each weekend in the series.  I’ve been around long enough to see all the changes.  When it first started, we had a lot of teams racing out of their backyards going to the track and actually winning races.  You just can’t do that anymore.  Every series, even late models, have engineering support now.  When you step back and think about how much it all has evolved it is fascinating.  I’m thankful to have been associated with successful teams and been fortunate to work with some really great people in this sport during my career.  Of course you wish that you had a big opportunity land in your lap right off the bat, but when we all started it didn’t work that way.  We were coached to make laps, and to finish first you must first finish.  Then once we got that concept, it was building on what we learned during a race.  There is so much pressure on these newcomers these days to go out in a vehicle and win right off the bat.  That is a lot on someone, especially at these young ages these kids are starting at now.  Everyone is looking for that young new talent out there, and the older generation is still out there wishing it was them.”

Compton Gives His Hand at Drag Racing on His Way to Texas Motor Speedway
Martinsville, Virginia | 06-04-2008
Burn Out in Memphis:   “On Tuesday we went to Memphis for a pre-race media tour.  Dennis (Setzer) and I got the chance to drive the media around the oval in Vipers.  All of these things start off kind of slow.  We took one media person out, drove a few laps and brought them back in smiling.  Then Dennis leaves the garage area and has to step it up a notch.  So he peels off, well I can’t let that be the last laugh.  So I leave the garage and do a burn out.  The next thing you know every time we leave the garage area we are spinning the tires, doing burn outs in the garage area and then making hot laps around the track.  We ended the day racing each other on the track, and when we stopped the cars they had blisters on the tires.  The competitor in us just can’t leave well enough alone, and we are even teammates!”

Setzer Finishes 18th at Dover
Dover, DE | 06-02-2008
Dover, DE. (June 2, 2008) – Dover International Speedway is not necessarily on Tahoe Smokeless Tobacco Driver Dennis Setzer’s favorite list of tracks to race on. So, he knew he had his worked cut out for him heading into Dover this past weekend. After qualifying in the 30th position Setzer used his veteran driving skills combined with pit strategy to make his way through the field. After going a couple of  laps down early in the event due to a very tight race truck he was able to work his way to an 18th place finish, one lap down to the leader.

Setzer Still Winning for Dodge 10 Years Later
Martinsville, Virginia | 05-27-2008
Setzer Still Winning for Dodge 10 Years Later: “Dodge took a big jump into the truck series when it first got started. It was a brand new series that we didn’t know a lot of information about or where it was going. If it wasn’t for manufactures like Dodge who were willing to “get their feet wet” in a new series I wouldn’t be where I am today. When I first climbed behind the wheel of a truck for competition in 1995 it was a Dodge. In fact I scored my first truck series victory three years later in a Dodge Ram and scored four more victories in that same ride over the course of the next three seasons. When I was asked to drive for BHR full time this season I was excited about our chances on returning to victory lane. In just seven races at the end of last season we had come a long way and I knew with the right situation we could do it. After our win in Martinsville earlier this season I came upon a unique statistic; every time I run a full season in a Dodge truck we go to victory lane. It means a lot to me that I can start my career with Dodge behind me and continue winning for them 10 years later.”

Dover Compton’s Favorite Despite Physical Demands On the Track
Martinsville, Virginia | 05-27-2008

Dover Compton’s Favorite Despite Physical Demands On the Track: “Dover is my all-time favorite race track we race on. Most of us know where we are good at and the track that fits our driving style best. Even though it is known as the Monster Mile, it is that perfect fit for me. I think it is a lot of fun to drive there for several reasons, but it may be the most physically demanding race track we visit based on its configuration. The combination of the fast speeds we turn there along with the extremely steep banking makes you feel like you are lifting 1000 pounds over your head for two solid hours. You actually have to position yourself in the seat holding the weight of your body upright, all while driving around tight corners on high banks at 150 mph.  It is excruciating at times.  One mistake and you’re spinning out of control.”

Compton Scores Second Top-10 of the Season at Mansfield
| 05-26-2008

Mansfield, OH. (May 26, 2008) – Dodge Driver Stacy Compton finally got the monkey of his back this weekend at the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Ohio 250 by scoring a 10th place finish. Before arriving in Mansfield on Friday morning Compton had never seen the race track, but proved his short track background came in handy during the course of the event after starting in the 25th spot. Compton struggled in the opening laps with the No. 4 Spitzer Dodge. “It will not turn,” he said to Crew Chief Bryant Frazier on lap 37 while running in the 26th position. Frazier made a gutsy call later in the race to bring Compton back down pit road for four fresh tires despite his pre-race plan to only pit once. The fresh tires proved to be just what Compton needed to make his way through the field and into 10th place. It was the team’s second top-10 finish.

Setzer Has Wild Day in Mansfield
Mansfield, Ohio | 05-26-2008

Mansfield , OH . ( May 26, 2008 ) – For Dodge driver and defending Ohio 250 race winner, Dennis Setzer, the scenery through his windshield was looking very familiar when took the lead on lap 72.   Setzer maintained a solid lead for several laps before an impatient second place driver, David Starr, punted him in the rear left side corner of the No. 18 Dodge. Setzer showed off his stellar driving skills by keeping the spinning Dodge Ram off of the wall and away from all other competitors. After receiving four fresh tires Setzer returned to the track in 30 th position and was on a mission. In just 84 laps he raced his way back into the sixth position. It was under the 11 th caution of the day that Setzer radioed in saying, “I have smoke in my cockpit.” Immediately, following the restart it appeared Setzer’s engine expired when a cloud of smoke bellowed from the rear. After pulling the No. 18 truck behind the wall it was determined a lower radiator hose busted draining out all the water out which resulted in a blown engine. Setzer finished in 34 th position and dropped to 12 th in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver point standings.

Compton Heads to Mansfield with Road Map in Hand
Martinsville, VA | 05-20-2008

Compton Not Sure What to Expect in Mansfield: ¡§Thank goodness it is not every weekend that you go to a race track that neither the driver nor crew chief have ever been to, but that is the challenge Mansfield is giving us this weekend. Bryant (Frazier) and I have never seen the track. Last week at Lowe¡¦s we both talked to several drivers and crew chiefs on what to expect. One told us to ¡§bring our rain boots¡¨ because it always rains and another told us it was ¡§good ole short track racing.¡¨ Luckily, I have the defending winner as a teammate to lean on. I think you will see pit strategy at its best this weekend. It is going to be interesting to see who takes tires and who doesn¡¦t.¡¨

Bad Luck Follows Compton to Lowe's Motor Speedway
Concord, NC | 05-20-2008

Concord, NC. (May 19, 2008) – Dodge driver Stacy Compton is in search of some good luck, but has been unable to find any in recent weeks.  The running of the NC Education Lottery 200 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway was no different. After starting the sixth NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event of the season in 17th spot Compton was running 20th when a debacle happened on pit road. While receiving four fresh tires and fuel during a scheduled green flag pit stop the jack handle came loose and dropped the jack before service was completed on the No. 4 Crown Dodge. Compton was forced to come back in the pits for service again. Despite the pit road trouble he was able to finish the event in the 28th position.

Setzer Scores Another Top-10 at Lowe's Motor Speedway
Concord, NC | 05-20-2008

Concord, NC. (May 19, 2008) – Once again Dodge Driver Dennis Setzer showed off his veteran driving skills during the running of the sixth NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race of the season at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. After starting 28th and struggling with a tight race truck in the opening laps of the event Setzer worked his way into the top 10 by lap 108. Then coming out of turn four several laps later the No. 18 Dodge got loose and started spinning. Setzer was able to spin the truck completely around without hitting anything while dodging the outside wall and several competitors as they were speeding behind him. After hitting pit road for four fresh tires Setzer made a charge for the front finishing in the seventh position. It was the team’s second top-10 finish of the season.

Setzer Only North Carolina Native NCTS Driver to Win at Lowes
Martinsville, VA | 05-20-2008
Setzer the only North Carolina native NCTS Driver to win at Lowes: ¡§Everyone always wants to win at their home track.  Lowes has become the hub of NASCAR but many drivers are not from the area.  It is hard to believe I am the only North Carolina native to have won at Lowes. I think it all started several years ago when the face of NASCAR began to change in a new direction. You used to only see racers from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Alabama and Tennessee because NASCAR was born a southern sport.  But the corporate sponsors and bigger television packages has now grown this into a world-wide sport.  It is harder to get into now, if you want to race, it¡¦s like trying to win the lottery. You have to be a good enough driver to catch the eye of an owner and most of the time have a money deal to even talk to an owner. Many owners have chosen to go outside of the traditional racer loop to find amazing talent and that is helping diversify our sport too. I think the growth of our sport is pretty impressive and something we should be proud to be associated with.¡¨

Setzer Heads To Mansfield With Confidence as Defending Winner of Ohio 250
Martinsville, VA | 05-20-2008

It Can Be Done Again Says Setzer: ¡§We have smaller fuel cells this season and I can¡¦t help but wonder if that is because of me. But I think if the right circumstances played out it could still be done at a short track such as MMP. NASCAR also changed the carburetor this season. We are seeing with the combination of the new carburetor and smaller fuel cells that we are getting within a few laps of the fuel mileage we got last year at certain tracks. It may never be done again, but I wouldn¡¦t write it off just yet.¡¨

Are All Laps Around LMS the Same, Compton is Getting Ready to Find Out
Martinsville, VA | 05-20-2008
Are all laps around LMS the same, we’re getting ready to find out: “It was just a couple of days ago that I realized I have never made a lap at Lowe's in a truck. After a while you tend to forget where all you have raced at and what type of vehicle you raced in. I don’t think it will hurt us in any way because I have tons of laps in a cup car and a nationwide car there. The key to winning the race at Lowe's is going to be having strong horsepower behind you and an aero-balanced truck. It sounds a lot easier than it will be and with a one day show you have to unload on your game. I expect we will see a race very similar to Kansas several weeks ago. We will run wide open around the entire race track in both qualifying and in the race. Tires will most likely not be an issue which will allow us the freedom to pass.”

Setzer: Blown Tire Ends Run at Kansas Speedway
Kansas City, KS | 05-01-2008
Kansas City, KS. (April 26, 2008) – After scoring an emotional victory at Martinsville, Dodge Driver Dennis Setzer and crew went west to Kansas with high hopes of capitalizing on the team’s momentum. Dennis Setzer qualified his No. 18 ShopHemi.com in 20th position but made his way to the front of the pack, climbing as high as fourth position before disaster struck. On lap 73 as Setzer was coming out of turn one he was unable to miss a competitor who spun directly in front of his racing line. The Dodge Racing Team repaired the substantial front end damage and Setzer returned to the track still on the lead lap. Then as he was working his way back through the field a catastrophic blown tire sent Setzer careening into the wall and forced the team to retire from the event, finishing in the 25th spot.

Compton: Bad Luck Strikes Again at Kansas
Kansas City, KS | 05-01-2008
Kansas City, KS. (April 26, 2008) – Stacy Compton went to Kansas with the intention of getting rid of the monkey on his back that has been plaguing the Dodge Racing Team since their sixth-place finish in Daytona Beach.  Compton started out qualifying 15th for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 250 at Kansas Speedway, but struggled with a tight race truck in the opening laps of the event. Then on lap 37, bad luck once again struck the driver. As Compton was holding his line though the corner, a competitor jumped to his outside which took the air off his spoiler causing it to jump loose.  As the No. 4 Dodge slid sideways Compton showed his veteran driving skills by keeping the truck off the outside retaining wall, but as he slid down the race track to slow the truck down he went directly into the path of another truck thus causing major rear end damage. Despite the mangled truck, Compton was able to salvage a 20th place finish.

Rising Fuel Costs and Kansas City On Compton's Mind
Martinsville, Virginia | 04-21-2008

Compton on Fuel and More: ¡§The increase in the price of fuel lately is really hurting our travel budget this season. We have been trying to find ways around it, but so far it has been an uphill battle. The fuel prices are almost triple the amount that they were three years ago, it¡¦s certainly putting a cramp on everything we're doing. Instead of us asking for dollars, we're offering to do things sponsorship-wise if you'll pay for the fuel for the haulers or something similar to that. When you do your budget at the beginning of the year you put fuel in the budget and pay for it, but honestly there is no real way to ¡§know¡¨ how much it will cost with the economy the way it is right now. I am not taking my motor home to Kansas this weekend because I can¡¦t justify spending that much money on it when I can stay at a hotel with the team.  It is a battle we are all facing right now no matter what series you are racing in.¡¨

Setzer Says Fuel Maybe the Key to Winning at Kansas
Martinsville, Virginia | 04-21-2008

Setzer Says Fuel Could Be the Key in Kansas: “Kansas is another track we visit that is really at its prime right now. It has been around for several years now and the racing only gets better every time we return. I think heading to Kansas you automatically think about fuel mileage strategy. It is not really a track you think about having a ton of cautions at therefore you have to be prepared for green flag pit stops and the chance of having to save fuel. I have a lot of experience when it comes to saving fuel so I kind of hope it comes down to that on Saturday afternoon.”

Lori Hamilton Named National Spokesperson for Head and Neck Cancer Week in April
Charleston, SC | 04-02-2008
Lori Hamilton, wife of the late NASCAR racing legend Bobby Hamilton, is urging Americans to get screened for cancer during the 2008 Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Week (OHANCAW), April 21-27. The week is highlighted by free screenings at more than 150 medical centers nationwide.
Bobby Hamilton, the 2004 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion and a four-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series winner, died in January 2007 from complications of head and neck cancer at the age of 49. According to the American Cancer Society, this year more than 40,000 Americans will be diagnosed with cancers of the head and neck – which include cancers of the oral cavity, larynx and pharynx – and 7,550 will die.

Bad Day at Martinsville for Compton and Crew
Martinsville, Virginia | 04-02-2008
Dodge Driver Stacy Compton fell victim to the Martinsville massacre Saturday afternoon during a caution-filled Kroger 250 at Martinsville Speedway. After starting in 26th position Compton had worked his way up to the 11th spot when a multi-truck wreck happened in front of him.  Compton jumped to the inside of the race track with the guidance of spotter, Mark Melling, to miss the spinning trucks. Just as Compton was about to clear the wreckage another truck clipped the tail of the No. 4 Dodge sending him spinning backwards into the mayhem. After going behind the wall to repair the extensive damage Compton returned to the track and salvaged a 35th place finish.

Setzer Scores Emotional Win at Martinsville
Martinsville, VA | 03-31-2008
Setzer Scores Emotional Win at Martinsville In a chassis designed by Bobby Hamilton Sr., Dennis Setzer scored his 18th NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series victory in the No. 18 Dodge Ram in dominating fashion by leading 126 of the 250 laps Saturday afternoon at Martinsville Speedway during the Kroger 250. After 47 races, Bobby Hamilton Racing returned to victory lane for the first time since Hamilton Sr. won at Mansfield Motorsports Park in 2005.  This was the first win for the organization since Hamilton’s passing due to cancer last year.

Compton Happy to be Headed Home to Virginia this Weekend
Martinsville, VA | 03-24-2008
Martinsville and the Champ: ¡§In 1996 I went to Martinsville to attempt the Sprint Cup Series race. I had been to Martinsville in a late model, but never in anything as powerful as a cup car. We qualified in the top 10 which blew a lot of people away. We sent some really good cars home that weekend. After qualifying Mike Wallace came up to me and said, ¡¥I don¡¦t know you and you don¡¦t know me, but you have no idea what you just did today.¡¦ And honestly I didn¡¦t. We ran well in the race, but ended up burning up our brakes about halfway through the event. A couple of weeks later we were in Charlotte and Jeff Gordon came up to me. I wasn¡¦t really sure what he was going to say. I was trying to think if I had done something to him on the track when he said, ¡¥What you did in Martinsville was a neat deal. I hope to see you in the garage area for a long time.¡¦ He will never know what that meant to me. I was a late model driver just trying to make it and he was a Cup Champion taking the time to talk to me. Ever since that day I have been a fan of Jeff Gordon.¡¨

Setzer Says Martinsville Can't Be Mastered and Keeps Drivers on Their Toes
Martinsville, VA | 03-24-2008
Anytime you can come out of the third race of the season and still be in the top 10 in points is a good thing. It is a great way to start the season. So many times you hope for a good start to the season and bad luck comes your way and ends that. I am excited about being ninth in points, but I am more excited about making the drive to get inside the top five over the coming weeks. I know the average person cannot see how much our team as grown since Daytona, but we have come a long way in a short time. The guys have put in a lot of long hours to make our trucks run more competitively and I think that is just beginning to show. Our team is only going to get better as the races go on. Thanks to Dodge we are spending a substantial amount of time in the wind tunnel and at the eight post shaker rig. The Martinsville test went really well, but we still spent time in the tunnel and at the eight post after the test to make ourselves better. On top of that we tested at the Motor Mile to get some more track time before this weekend. If we can stay out of trouble at Martinsville I think we will be on our way to a solid spot in the top 10 in points.¡¨

Despite Past Success at Martinsville Compton and Setzer Gain Valuable Information in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Test
Martinsville, VA | 03-17-2008
Despite running over a combined 9,000 laps of NASCAR competition at Martinsville Speedway, Bobby Hamilton Racing teammates Stacy Compton (No. 4 Dodge) and Dennis Setzer (No. 18 Dodge) realize the importance of the recent NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series test at Martinsville Speedway over the past two days.

"No matter how hard you try you will never be able to master Martinsville Speedway," said Dennis Setzer, who currently sits eighth in the NCTS series point standings. "This Track changes way too much to master it. It used to be a bumpy track several years ago and was really rough to race on. Then they ground the bottom groove which I think was one of the best things they ever decided to do with the track. It helped smooth out the surface and made for great racing. Now the track has been reconfigured again. It has the most grip ever. But just as soon as you think you have this place figured out something else changes."

Setzer Overcame Loose Truck and Pit Road Penalty To Finish 13th at Atlanta
Hampton, GA. | 03-10-2008
For Dennis Setzer and his Dodge Racing Team the American Commercial Lines 200 at Atlanta Motor Speedway was all about determination. After struggling in the morning practice, Setzer and Crew Chief Marcus Richmond made several changes before qualifying Friday afternoon. The changes proved to be a success when Setzer scored an eighth place starting position. Once the race started he overcame an extremely loose truck in the earlier stages of the event, a pit road penalty late in the race but went on to lead one lap and score a 13th place finish. The top-15 finish moved Setzer to eighth in the NASCAR Driver Point Standings.

Tire Trouble Derailed Compton of Top-10 Finish at Atlanta
Hampton, GA | 03-10-2008
Dodge Driver Stacy Compton and team headed to Atlanta Motor Speedway on a mission this past weekend. They wanted to overcome the racing challenges they had been through at the AMS test and the race at California Speedway. After making huge gains in practice Compton qualified 10th for the American Commercial Lines 200.  He knew he was on the right track. Despite running in the top 10 most of the night tire trouble in the final laps of the 130 lap event derailed the No. 4 Landmark Dodge from a 10th place finish. Compton finished 19th in the third NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event of the season.

Multi-Groove Tracks Make for Better Racing
Martinsville, VA | 03-07-2008
“Like California, Atlanta is another track that has improved with age. In today’s world you don’t hear to many people talking about how getting older is a good thing, but for race tracks it is. The older a track’s surface is, the more fun it is for a driver to race on. The grooves are worked in and defined. I can race the top, middle and bottom lanes, which gives me a variety of places to try and make my truck work. My goal is to be able to run on the bottom most of the night, but if one set of tires will run better in the top lane then I have that option.”

Setzer Hopes To Hold It Wide Open at Atlanta This Weekend
Martinsville, VA | 03-07-2008
“One of the biggest challenges I think we will face at Atlanta is how long we can hold it wide open. Since NASCAR added the restrictor plate to our engines in February to slow us down I have not been able to hold it wide open as often in the past. Usually we only have restrictor plates at Daytona and Talladega, but now we have them for all races. I know you will be able to hold it wide open for qualifying and the first 10 laps or so of the race, but after that I am not sure. It will definitely affect the handling of the trucks at Atlanta. We are use to being able to run wide open there a majority of the race, but I have feeling that will change this weekend.”

Setzer Finishes 16th At California
Fontana, California | 02-26-2008
California wasn’t as sunny as Melling Dodge driver Dennis Setzer hoped it would be. Tremendous rain showers drenched much of the weekend forcing NASCAR to cancel Craftsman Truck Series qualifying on Friday. Setzer started 13th, but struggled during the race with a loose race truck. At the end of the race a long green flag run forced teams to pit under green with just 20 laps to go. Setzer and crew gambled to stay out as long as they could before hitting pit road. Setzer took over the lead on lap 87 and remained there until he hit pit road on lap 90. After leading the first laps for Dodge this season, he finished 16th.
