Believe Me When I say: “I don’t pay a lot of attention to the points right now, really I don’t.  I feel like with five races to go there will be a lot of pressure on me to go harder for the championship, but for now I think winning races is more important.  If you continue to win races or get top-five or top-10 finishes, then the championship will fall into place.  You have to keep in mind that you have sponsors to please and they would love the championship and they love to win as well.  So you have to go for what you can get when you can.”

Fish to Fry: “In racing we wait for things to happen.  It is like a roller coaster.  When you have a good combination of people, motors, trucks and leaders, then you generally have a real successful race team.  We see that across the board, whether it is with a Dodge team or Ford or Chevy or Toyota.  Basically what we do is look at the teams that we think is going to be a threat and try to monitor them each week.  But I refuse to sit around and dwell on the points all the time; I have bigger fish to fry right now.”

Competitive Even With Family: “There is competition between Bobby Junior and me.  We are both racers, so it is in our blood to compete with everyone, even family.  You see drivers out there all the time, like the Wallace’s or Labonte’s, competing against each other each week.  When it comes down to it, I would rather my son have more wins than me, but if he can’t get it and we’re racing against each other, I’ll do my best to win.  When Bobby raced for me earlier this year he sat on the pole and led most of the race.  He wasn’t too happy that dad won the race because he was so competitive all day and wasn’t leading at the end.  It wasn’t his fault, just a tight set of tires, but he still has the right to be upset with it.  That is one of the things I love most about him, he’s passionate about what he does.  That will set him apart from other up and coming drivers.”  

Notes:
• The truck Hamilton is racing in Richmond is nicknamed Slim Shady.  He has raced it 10 times this season with an average finish of seventh. 
• Seven out of the 10 races in Slim Shady Hamilton has finished in the top five.

Square D Exit: “I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Square D for the past four years and hate to see them leave the sport.  They have been a tremendous company to work with and several key people have really made their racing program one of the best out there right now.  The employees really followed the Craftsman Truck Series and kept up with our races each week.  I hope they continue to do that in the future.  We wish them the best.”
