Memphis: “I like Memphis a lot; it is one of my favorite tracks. A few years ago I was really partial to short tracks because of my background. It seemed to be my forte. Memphis is a lot like Nashville, Lakeland or IRP to me. I’ve always run good at these types of places, but I’m leery to say that. The first time I ran a truck at Memphis, I ran fourth and I’ve had several good Busch runs there. Last year the Dickies Dodge was awesome. We qualified on the outside pole and ran in the top five for the first seventy laps, then we had a motor problem. The track has two distinct corners. Turn one and two are really fast which reminds me a lot of Richmond. Turns three and four are a lot slower and sharper. So you have to get your truck turning well. Then you have to conserve your brakes, you use them a lot on one end of the track. You don’t use them much in turns one and two, but in three and four you have to out-brake your opponent to try to pass them. It’s a disciplined track, but very wide and racy.”

Keep Momentum: “We’re just going to keep doing what we’re doing. Our team has been fast every single race this year and I think I’ve been running better the past two or three races. I was disappointed after Mansfield, but then I just got more determined. I also believe that working well with Kip (McCord, Crew Chief) and our Team Engineer Jeff White has made a difference. They do a great job. Of course it takes everybody. The trucks are coming out of the shop fast. Once we get to the track the team and I are connecting to make the right changes. We’re going to keep that pace up. We’ll miss it sometimes, but right now we are same page. We did some reorganization over the winter when we went from a three-team deal, to two. Most of these guys are new to me this year. They are the core of Bill Lester’s old team from last year and they do an outstanding job. Our engineering department and our fab shop are on top of its game. We build our own chassis and our own bodies. It’s all attributed to Bobby Hamilton. He’s the center cog that makes it all go. With his direction and everybody working hard, we get good results.”
