Hamilton Qualifies 5th in Charlotte
05-20-2004 | Charlotte, NC

Square D driver Bobby Hamilton qualified his No. 4 Dodge in fifth position for tomorrow’s Infineon 200 night race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.  Hamilton was fourth fastest in the first practice after running only a handful of laps and parking his Dodge in the garage area.

“We’re pretty stout,” Hamilton said.  “They better watch out when this green flag drops.  My truck is fast on any groove of this track.  This is the same truck we won with at Atlanta, so I wouldn’t be surprised if you see another finish like that tomorrow night.  Hopefully we can put on another good show for Square D and the fans.

“It might be ugly for the rest of the competition,” Hamilton said.  “I know Kevin (Harvick) and Michael (Waltrip) will be good.  All the guys who have a lot of time here will be strong.  We didn’t work on anything in practice except race setup, so we’re ready to start.”

Moments into the final practice session, Hamilton was second on the chart.

David Starr won the Pole starting position with a time 30.239 seconds.  Carl Edwards, Mike Skinner, Matt Crafton and Hamilton follow in the top five.

The Infineon 200 airs live on Speed Channel, Fri. May 21st at 8:30 pm EDT.
