Dickies driver Chad Chaffin qualified his No. 18 Dodge on the outside pole for tomorrow’s Kroger 250 with a time of 20.615 seconds. This marks the first time in only three races so far this season Chaffin has started from the front row.
“We were a little bit loose, but I think the track is slowing down,” Chaffin said. “I think I tried to knock the fender off of it on the curb, but that’s just the sign of a good turning truck. I hit the curb in the middle of the corner, not going in, so the truck is cutting really well. Mike Skinner and Carl Edwards went before us and both of them were faster than us in practice. We beat them, so I am pretty confident.
“Qualifying second is nothing like winning the pole, but at least we’re going in the right direction,” Chaffin continued. “We have a proven truck that Bobby has won with last year, so I see us being one of the guy’s to beat tomorrow.”
With minutes left in the final practice session Chaffin was second on the grid of 36 trucks.
Jack Sprague won the Pole starting position with a time 20.499 seconds. Chad Chaffin, Rick Crawford, Carl Edwards and Hamilton follow in the top five.
The Kroger 250 airs live on Speed Channel, Sat. April 17th at 1:00 pm EDT.
