Quick Facts

• Owner of three NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series entries, including the No. 18 Dickies Dodge Ram driven by Chad Chaffin, the No. 8 Dodge Ram driven by Bill Lester and the No. 4 Square D Dodge Ram driven by Hamilton.

• In only 24 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series starts, Hamilton has two wins, five top-five and eight top-10 finishes.

• Hamilton has four career NASCAR Winston Cup Series victories at four distinctly different tracks: Talladega, Ala. (Apr. 22, 2001); Phoenix (Oct. 27, 1996); Rockingham, N.C. (Oct. 27, 1997); and Martinsville, Va. (April 20, 1998).

• In only his first season with Andy Petree Racing, Hamilton won the Talladega 500 (Apr. 22, 2001) claiming the first victory for sponsor Square D and APR.

• In the Pennzoil 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway (Nov. 12, 2000), Hamilton celebrated his 300th career NASCAR Winston Cup Series start. On the same day Hamilton’s son, Bobby Hamilton, Jr. took his first career Winston Cup Series start.

• Hamilton earned his first Winston Cup victory in 1996 and became the first driver to win in a Petty Enterprise’s car since Richard Petty won in 1983. Ironically the victory at Phoenix International Raceway was the same site of his first Winston Cup start (Nov. 5, 1989) as part of the filming of the “Days of Thunder” stock car racing movie.

• In 1996, Hamilton claimed his first career pole on June 21 in Michigan. That season he posted 11 top-10s, including three top-fives, before finishing a career-high ninth-place in the point standings.

• Hamilton joined Petty Enterprises in 1995, and posted four top-fives and ten top-10s en route to notching the 14th spot in the final points standings.

• In 1991 he earned NASCAR Winston Cup Series’ Rookie-of-the-Year honors.
