Chaffin Taking Same Chassis as Boss to Phoenix

Same Chassis as the Boss:  “I really don’t have any preconceived notions as to how we are going to do other than we’re taking a different truck to Phoenix this year. We’re going to run King. This is a truck that should be as close to Bobby’s truck as possible. There is no such thing as identical trucks, but we’re going with the same type chassis and the same setup. We’ve really only done that a couple of times this year, but we meant to do it a lot. It was just with the way things happened, we all wanted different setups for the same track, so finally we sat down and said, ‘OK, we’re going to do this and do this right.’ At the end of this year, we’re starting to get our chassis and setups more alike. Phoenix is the first wave of that. I’m taking one of Bobby’s trucks that they’ve actually repainted in the Dickies colors and we’re going to see how we do. We would like to get a victory for BHR and for Dickies, it’s important that one of us win one of these last two races. Obviously I want to do it, but if I can’t then maybe by having the same truck as Bobby, I can lend some support to help him win the race.”

Temperature: “This track is pretty temperature sensitive, which makes the information I give the crew chief a lot more critical. This type of track gives an advantage to an experienced team, whether it is the crew chief or the driver that’s experienced. They’ll have notes or just the knowledge of what the track is going to do from morning until afternoon time. They can setup their truck for an afternoon happy hour knowing what the track is going to do the next day in the heat. Since I’ve only raced there a couple of times I might not know exactly what the truck’s going to do. I’ll probably have to rely on Bobby to figure out where our truck needs to be from that Thursday morning happy hour to that Friday afternoon race.

Phoenix is Cool: “I like the Phoenix area and racing out there. The track is pretty unique. It’s a fast track, and fun to race on. I enjoy the area and will obviously like the race track a whole lot better if I run good. It’s got a lot of history there being the first place the NCTS started. The truck series was originally created as a west coast series. I know they have raced in Phoenix a lot, so it would mean something to do good out there”

Notes:

· This weekend’s truck is King. This is the first time Chaffin has raced this particular truck. Hamilton raced it this season at Memphis and Bristol, where he finished seventh and 12th respectively.

· Chaffin has the chance to make history for BHR this weekend. If he can finish in the top 10 this weekend, he can log his finish as the 100th top-10 finish for BHR.

· Chaffin will be appearing on Oct. 28th at Sears in the Paradise Valley Mall from 4-7 pm.

Movie Night: “I’m going to hang out with my kids a little bit on this weekend off. I also hope to get in a little golf. I may even catch a couple of movies. I’d like to see School of Rock and maybe another one depending on what else is playing. I really like going to movies, it is kind of a hobby for me. My wife’s hobby is going to restaurants and mine is going to movies. So that means we’ll probably go to a restaurant one night and a movie the next.”
