All three of the BHR teams attended the open test at Lowe's Motor Speedway
in Concord, North Carolina this past week, and while dodging the rain,
they managed to turn in some very respectable times. Each team took two
trucks to the test to see which one would be the best to race there next
week.
"We had a great test," said Bill Lester. "I'm as optimistic as I've ever
been about returning to a track to run. We had a little trouble the first
few hours on the track, as the engine let go in our Dodge, but we had a
great test after that. We had run it at a test in Atlanta, so I'm not
worried about the failure. We never have problems with our Arrington
engines. They are some of the best engines in the business. I'm pretty
sure after testing that we're going to be fast when we get back here next
week for the race."
As far a Chad Chaffin and the No. 18 Dickies team goes. They also had a
very informative test. They shook down both trucks at the test and on the
second day made the decision that they would race "Angel" at the event
next Friday, May 16, 2003.
"We tried a low drag truck and it just didn't feel good to me," said
Chaffin. "We had "Rudolph" on track the first day, but I guess reindeer
don't like running in the heat. Then we tried "Angel" and she lived up to
her name, so I'm pretty sure we're going to run her at the race next
week."
The fast times for each team where all in the 31 second range
unofficially. The unofficial fast lap of the two day test was set by
Bobby Hamilton in the No. 4 Square D Dodge
