Kentucky Speedway a Whole New Deal for Chaffin: Chad Chaffin will be entering the Kentucky Speedway with a very limited amount of track time at the facility. Chaffin has never competed at the Kentucky Speedway.
"I've been up here testing before, but I've never raced here," said Chaffin. "I'm not that worried about it. From testing here and last week's race at Kansas, I would say the two tracks are similar. I will also have a chance to draw from the team's experience; Bobby's (Hamilton) been here a few times testing with a Cup car, and my crew chief, Danny Rollins, has run here in the past, so it shouldn't be a big deal. In fact, the team has a second and a third place finish here the last two years."

Chaffin has been the hard luck driver of the season thus far, having fast trucks on several occasions, just to have something derail the Dickies Team's efforts. They have been on a role of late setting on the front row in two of the last three races, but in both cases, the finishes have been less than desired.

"We're not down about the last few races at all," said Chaffin. "The team and I know how fast we are, and if we just get a break to go our way, we can get a win. I know everyone says that, but this is a tough series. Even if all you have to do was just beat the other Dodges out here, you would have to out run the likes of Bobby Hamilton, Ted Musgrave, Brendan Gaughan, Jason Leffler, and sometimes Robert Pressley. It's tough."

Appearances: Chaffin will be suiting up for his second softball game in two weeks on Thursday, July 10, 2003. The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series drivers will be playing the SPEED Channel crew in a softball game at the Northern Kentucky University campus, just east of Florence, Kentucky.
"Well, last week I was a little nervous about playing and looking like a fool, and that game was just for fun," said Chaffin. "This week though, I've been told by the other drivers that this is very serious. Last year, the drivers lost this game, so many of them are ready for a rematch. I'm just going to have fun, but I'm sure I'll get into it when the first pitch is thrown out."

Chaffin Inching Toward the $ 200,000 Mark in Earnings: In the next two weeks, depending on his finishes, Chaffin will surpass the $ 200,000 mark in career NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series earnings. Chaffin has earned $177,990 in 16 starts.

This Week's Truck: The No. 18 BHR Dickies Dodge team will be taking the same truck they raced with at Kansas last week to Kentucky Speedway. "Hulk" proved to be fast in qualifying last week while setting a track record, but developed a handling problem in the race. This week the goal will be to eliminate the race problems the Dickies Team has experienced the last few weeks.

Chaffin Quotes  "We have to have the worst luck of any team out there. We have been so fast all year, but every bad thing in the book has happened to this team. I'm telling you what, when we get this turned around, we may be unstoppable. I know we have what it takes to win, we just can't seem to make it to the checkered flag without something knocking us out of contention."
