Need to Get a Top Ten Finish: Chad Chaffin and the No. 18 BHR Dickies Dodge team are chopping at the bit to get to Kansas Speedway and get back in the top ten finish column. After the last two weeks, Chaffin and the team need a solid top ten finish to get back into the top ten in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series points standings.

"It's been a tough few weeks for the Dickies Team," said Chaffin. "I'm not sure what we have to do to get this monkey off our back. The last two races we have been fast, we just can't seem to finish the race strong or put a total race together from the start of a weekend to the finish of one. I know if we keep trying, then we'll get over this and we'll be fine."

This week at Kansas is a whole new challenge for Chaffin. He has never been to Kansas Speedway in a truck, and the two times he went there in a NASCAR Busch Series car, he was uncompetitive.

"It's hard to say what to expect this week," said Chaffin. "I've been to Kansas Speedway, but I was never in a car that could run with the leaders. So I'm not sure what we need to get around this place. I'll be relying a lot on Bobby (Hamilton) and the No. 18 team, which have both raced here before."

Chaffin enters the race this weekend in a two-way tie for 11th position in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series points standings with Matt Crafton. Both of which are just four points out of tenth place in the standings.

"The last two weeks have hurt us, but we'll be fine by season's end," said Chaffin. "If we are in 11th place with two or three races to go this year, then I will get worried."

Appearances: Chaffin will be making an appearance at the BPU Checkered Flag Charities Celebrity Softball Game on Thursday, July 3, 2003 at 7:30PM Central time in Kansas City, Kansas. He and other stars of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Indy Racing League, and the Kansas City media will be playing a charity softball game at the new stadium for the Kansas City T-Bones.

"This is a good cause, and I'm always happy to help out with something like this," said Chaffin. "I'm pretty sure the competition will heat up after the game starts. Right now, I think everyone said 'yeah, we'll do it,' but when the game's on the line, then its bragging rights. It'll be a lot of fun, so I hope people come out and have a good evening with us."

Chaffin Quotes  "I'll tell you, the one thing that has been interesting to me this year is the amount of rain that has affected racing. It seems like everywhere we go, rain has changed something. But I'll say that I'm not complaining. It has been a nice change from the heat of the summer that we normally have to deal with."
