Crew Chief and Family Involved in an Accident: Randy Seals, crew chief on the No. 18 Dickies Dodge, and his family were involved in a serious accident on Saturday, May 17, 2003, following the event in Charlotte. Seals' wife, Leah, and their three children, Ryne, Kendall, and Emily, were all in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Each sustained non-life threatening injuries with Seals's son, Ryne, suffering the most serious injury, a broken back.

"It's going to take him (Ryne) a little time to recover, but everything should be ok. He's a pretty tough boy," said Seals. "My family and I are very lucky. It was just a bad accident that we can blame on the rainy weather."

Just Outside of the Top Ten: Chad Chaffin and the No. 18 BHR Dickies Team dug themselves into a little bit of a hole in the points, but with one-fifth of the season completed, they are slowly working their way back out. They had fallen back to 13th place in the overall driver points standings, but after last week's eighth place finish, they are a mere five points out of the top ten and only 117 points out of fifth place in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series points standings.

"I think we're back on track after last week's run," said Chaffin. "We ran a fairly clean race for the first time all year. We didn't have a flat tire or crash of fuel or anything else go wrong. The guys on the team are working great together so that's never been a worry, but we just had a little bad racing luck that got us behind. Now we think we've got that turned around, so we have no way to go but up."

Laps Lead: Chaffin is currently fifth in laps led in the series after five races. The top five leaders are as follows: Ted Musgrave 179, Dennis Setzer 165, Bobby Hamilton 143, Kevin Harvick 96, and Chad Chaffin 81.
"We've been up front trying to get the five bonus points for leading a lap, and in two of the three races, we've done that, but we're going to lead a bunch more laps before the season is over," said Chaffin.

Appearances: While in Dover, Delaware, Chaffin will be making an appearance at the Dover Air Force base, with several other drivers, to sign autographs for the family members of troops that are stationed overseas.
"I'm looking forward to the time we'll get to spend with everyone," said Chaffin. "I'm sure we're going to have a great time at the base."

Chaffin Quotes

"Dover is just Dover to me. It's fast and fun to drive. I think I started ninth here the first time I ran the track, but my finish was pretty bad. I always had something break on the cars every time I was up here, but it's a great place to have fun racing. It's definitely one of the tracks on the schedule that lends itself to tough racing."

"It will be good to start getting a few races under our belt starting this week. This is the stretch of the season where we'll see what kind of team everyone has. The good teams are going to rise to the top of the points, and the others will fall by the wayside. This next ten weeks will determine a lot of how the season will turn out."
